Mrs. Bill Clinton's TV show cancelled

Governments are more efficient at providing public goods, ie defense, fire houses, etc. It's one of the reason's they're created. It seems to me that health care might be a public good looking at the amounts spent on it for public v private.

I just don't like the idea of the government being able to control who I chose to be my healthcare provider. Like if I get cancer or something I want to go to the best and under a nationalized healthcare system the government chooses for you.

In theory they wouldn't have to if we had a system like Canada's.

Well I'm not an expert on the subject, what is Canada's system, do they simply subsidize the insurance companies and keep the acual healthcare profession private because I thought they nationalized the entire healthcare industry ie the Doctors work for the state.

In Massachusets they're subsidizing the insurance companies which seems like it might work, and guess what? A republican passed the bill.

That's what I heard Canada's like. I could be wrong, but I believe they have like five different insurance companies.

Did you know you can actually major in health care? Evidently it's pretty complicated or something.

Have you been following the developments in Massachusets? If it works there I may be more open to it on a national level it's sounds like what you're taking about how Canada's works but I don't think they're going to limit the competition that's just stupid the more competition the better, here's the story:
Massachusetts governor signs landmark health-care bill

The bill, seen as a possible national model as traditional employer-based coverage shrinks nationwide, will provide health care to about 95 percent of the state's half-million uninsured residents by 2009.

Its backers compared it to laws in most states that force drivers to carry auto insurance. Similarly, all Massachusetts adults must carry health insurance by 2007 or face a fine, spreading costs among citizens, employers and government.

The Massachusetts law provides insurance to the lowest-earning residents by offering low- or no-cost plans, with premiums and co-payments paid entirely by the state.

It sounds like the states just picking up the tab for their insurance. Sounds cool to me.

From your pseudo-news source? I'm not impressed.

Oh shoot the messenger now. This is Drudge's baliwick, his reporting behind the scences hollywood stories is what got him noticed to begin with.

The wildly popular yet slightly annoying Friends sitcom had.....

I posted you what the insiders stated, it peaked at 17 million dropped to 10% before they had to take it off the air and revamp it and try to come up with something people would watch, and appears they think sex is the only thing that will save them.................how desperate.

Like I already mentioned but you conveniently ignored. West Wing lasted for seven years with average ratings below 10 million. It's not that big a deal.

Ya but it sounds like the effect is going to be 95% healthcare coverage for everyone in the state all without nationalizing the healthcare industry or other socialist reforms. That's what I like about it working within the market rather than the state.

Like I mentioned to you it doesn't matter, the insiders are saying a 15 share or thier gone

"No one here will say publicly that it's over [for the show]," a well-placed insider said this week from Los Angeles. 'But it is over."

The program returns this evening after a long recess -- with the president's husband groping an intern!

THE IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE: LOW VIEWERSHIP

ABC suits will not renew COMMANDER unless audience levels can hold a 15 share, a source claims. The show crashed from a high of nearly 17 million viewers for its second episode to 10.4 million for its last, Jan. 24."

and they are now desperately going with a sex scandal I guess figuring all the Clinton fans would watch it for the memories it brings back to them about their favorite womanizer and sympathy for Mrs. Bill Clinton.

Once I hear it from ABC or...I dunno...a real news place, I'll believe it.

Drudge is just as valid, just as "real" a source as anyone else especially with Hollywood and the media.

The problem with this show is that instead of a program about the President who happens to be a woman it's a show about a woman who happens to be President and the scripts have to be written that way and it comes off hokey.

Really? Over 10 million people disagree with you, which is why it'll be on next season.

HAH! Yeah, and People magazine is, too.

Face it dude, wishful thinking will not get rid of a TV show. If that worked, Smallville would've died a deserving death ages ago.

And about 150 million do, they don't watch it.

You said 10 million disagree with me and watch it, well about 150 million don't watch it.

Do you really think stooping to a sex scandal ala Bill Clinton will save it? According to the inside sources it will have to increase it's current share by 50% to stay alive. Can't afford to pay the big stars with mediocre ratings.

And the fact that 150 million don't watch it means what? Nothing.

It's a TV show! That's what they do! Scandal sells, all shows have it.

I guess that proves the intelligence of those who watch it then.

As opposed to American Idol? It's an hour long TV show that happens once a week. No sane person could think they were able to judge a person's intelligence based off the fact they watched it.

Oh I think the two are apples and oranges, American Idol is real and has to do with the actual talent of participants and a real chance at a recording career. Nothing to do with sex or scandal.

CnC is made up drama with a premise and storyline that can't seem to survive and now must resort to a Clinton type scandal to try and stay afloat to continue it's mission to pave the way for Hillary.

It's called Prime Time. They all do that. If you don't like it, don't watch.

And I had a great Easter thanks. Nothing like being woken up at six to watch little kids look around for eggs.

Oh I don't. 24 is about the only network show I watch. Too bad they are blowing chance to have an interesting political show though and instead are having a sex scandal show that just happens to be in the White House.

Our grandchild is not quite old enough yet but we did find out we are having another in about 8 months!
