Mr. Trump is governing as an authoritarian

If Mr. Trump did not want people, both citizens of this nation, and onlookers abroad, to think he was governing as an authoritarian why would he act as he does? He has now gotten rid of an official for numbers on the economy that he doesn’t like. That is ripped straight from the dictator playbook. One things for certain, Mr. Trump is not serious about fixing this economy, rather proclaiming it the best and brightest jewel of the world, so long as he is in office. We aren’t even a year in. I expect this to get much, much worse.

It was clear all during his campaign and the SCOTUS decision from last July. Remember Project 2025?

Lursa, it is a surprise to some of the voters, who voted Trump because it was the vibesy thing to do, being wholly ignorant of Mr. Trump’s policy agenda

His very job title makes him an authoritarian. And believe me, that not a bad thing. The Founding Fathers knew what they were doing.

"Over time" means "since February." Right?

Congressional Republicans certainly didn't roll over for Biden, Obama or Clinton.

Congressional Democrats certainly didn't/aren't rolling over for Trump, Bush 41, or Reagan. They did let Bush 43 get away with a lot of crap after 9/11, but it's nothing compared to what we see happening right now.

The founding fathers believed in a system of checks and balances and not giving too much power to one individual. I’m sure you knew this at one point or another but have since dismissed the concept.

Trump is only using his executive branch powers and powers that have been granted him by Congress.

Trump governs by abusing EO’s and declaring fake emergencies. He’s not the first but he’s by far the worst. At least in my lifetime.

I'm fairly certain Nikki Haley wouldn't be sending US troops into US cities nor ignoring court rulings. Nor would she be suing universities. She wouldn't have enacted economy contracting tariffs. She wouldn't have renamed the Gulf of Mexico. She wouldn't have tried to annex Canada, Greenland nor the Panama Canal. She wouldn't be investigating Obama. Etc., etc.

He's the only president where in my lifetime where his party acquiesce to him on everything. 10 years later and these idiots are still investigating the 2016 election.

If there is any abuse of EO's or fake emergencies, then Congress has the power to put a stop to them. That's the "Checks and Balances" thing you were talking about.

If Congress doesn't take action, that means there is no abuse or fakes.
 
There's a lot of things Haley wouldn't have done, since she is not America First.

Speaking of Panama, another thing she wouldn't have done is get Panama to kick the Chinese out of the Canal Zone.

Congress is useless and spineless. I can assure you that was not what the founding fathers intended either. You should stop referring to them since you seem to have dispirit views on the expectations of our leaders then they intended.

It's not even political. People who voted for Trump are just certified stupid.

What we have now is an absolute clown show. If we had enough reasonable people, Trump would be impeached and removed.

Maybe she would govern by poll. Maybe she would govern the way Sleepy Joe did...by doing what he was told to do.

Anyway, I don't equate America First with authoritarianism. I equate the Presidency with authoritarianism. Surely you know that ALL presidents are authoritarians. It's in the job description.

And these conservatives claim to uphold the Constitution. Yet they support a president who uses fake emergencies to circumvent it.

They deserve a future liberal government that behaves like Trump's administration and governs by EOs and fires accountants who publish the truth about the economy.

The founding fathers set up three separate but equal branches to prevent what Trump is doing now. Congress is nothing but a rubber stamp for Trump and he is now going after the Judicial branch because he is violating our Constitution and being called on it. We are in a Constitutional crisis and all you can say is bring it on. Trump is a very bad thing for freedom and for America. Today Trump spent the morning wandering around on the roof of the Whitehouse making strange gestures and yelling down answers to the Press. He is a lunatic who thinks no one is noticing. The world is noticing and wars are breaking out all over it.

Are you honestly of the opinion Congress is a productive body? They have a 71% disapproval rating. Does that sound like they are doing the job of the people?
