Most conservatives don't understand purpose of journalism, says founder of website on media bias

Over the last decade, however, Sheffield — who founded NewsBusters with his brother Greg and worked there until 2014 — has come to believe that he was part of a problem, not a solution, and is now working to correct that error.

The problem, as he describes it, is that most conservatives think the purpose of journalism is to wage partisan political warfare, and that has created an ecosystem on the right where facts and truth are increasingly irrelevant.

This dynamic is at play most recently in the move by many Trump supporters to stop watching Fox News because, while it is conservative, it is not slavish enough toward the president. Instead, many Trump supporters are moving toward channels that repeat the president’s lies about a stolen election without any scrutiny or standards for fact checking.
“If you go to and look at the history of conservative media enterprises that are large scale and exist presently, every single one of them was created to "propagate and propagandize for a particular political viewpoint", literally without exception,”

This is the mess of conservative media, created under the Reagan Administration championed by Rodger Ailes as a strategy tool to use for future campaign management agenda to push a narrative for its candidates .... it has less concern with facts, but more driven and directed toward indoctrinations, via the efforts to propagate and propagandize a particular political viewpoint. it uses "drama incitement" wrapped in a bastardized play on religious principle, and negligence and selective disregard of the true and full spectrum of principles and values laid out in The Preamble.

quote
The Reagan Administration created "The Federalist Society'... to promote an agenda
“Founded in 1982, the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies is a group of conservatives and libertarians dedicated to reforming the current legal order…

In its mission and purpose, the Federalist Society is unique. By providing a forum for legal experts of opposing views to interact with members of the legal profession, the judiciary, law students, academics, and the architects of public policy, the Society has redefined the terms of legal debate.

How long would it take a dozen or so monkeys typing randomly on typewriters to come up with that exact same story? Not very long I'd wager. Conservatives by and large understand liberal anti-conservative reporting is biased.

Thanks for proving the OP's point in the first response.

Liberal BS is just one lie after another. Nothing is so biased as liberal news media. They are not reporting the news they are spreading liberal, socialist, propaganda.

I thought it all started when Cronkite opined on Vietnam, but I found out it started with FDR (go figure). There has not been one, and I mean ONE Republican POTUS or candidate that was ever looked favorably by the Lamestream Press. Not Trump, Mittens, McStain (even though he's the darling of the Democrats), both Bushes, Reagan (especially), Ford, Nixon, Goldwater, Ike, Stevenson, I could go on.

That's because you guys are so weak and powerless in the media

FDR's Policies were directed to the benefits of the Society of People, Fair Principles in Business and Regulatory Reforms of The Financial System to promote a more equitable system for economic equilibrium among the citizen population. he existed long before the Former Dixiecrat's took over the Republican Party.

Conservative Media"... and if you face the truth... goes against the grain of the Original Principles and Values of THE PREAMBLE, as being designed for the service of the entire nation and ALL of the Nation's people. It goes against the principles of "Capitalism" which was principally designed so "All" American Society could engage in Commerce, Exchange of Goods and Services, and Fair Wage Labor Market to build A Prospering Society; This is principle to why American Democracy chose a Capitalism System to promote Economic Equilibrium.
Republicanism's Conservative Agenda... is adverse to the principle of American Democracy as it was established. Republicanism, since it was first taken over by Former Dixiecrats is devoted to the Ideals of Confederacy Ideology, starting with an overt attempt to push States Rights to USURP Federal Governances and Federal Regulatory Principles and Policy. It has endeared itself to the very same principles of the former Dixiecrats who were bound and bonded with a passion to carry forth Confederacy Ideology of Industry Values Domination Over People. Our worst policy has been written by Corporate Lobbyist, who have little concern or regard for the safeguard for people, community, and diversity in the civility of society and the equality in the economic equilibrium of the multi-ethnic and multicultural citizen populations

To that agenda of Business before and above concerns for the People... gave us "Robber Barron Controlled Medical Systems", "Out of Control Military Industrial Complex" and "The Pursuit of Cheap Labor at the expense of a Quality Standard of Living for The People. This madness, gave us the advent of "Outsourcing" as it exist today; *(Richard Nixon) in its search for ever cheaper labor, at the expense of the economic stability of the American Family and American Individual Persons.
The Marshal Plan that was enacted in Japan, was not so much a form out Outsourcing, as it was helping to rebuild a devastated nation, and the Bretton Woods Accord (System).. was to help nations rebuild... to spur their ability to build stability, which is beneficial to a functioning System of Global Trade.

My cynical sarcastic self approaches this question with the comment that “reality has a liberal bias.”
More seriously, I think the notion of a liberal media bias may have these roots: The lions of early broadcasting, Cronkite et al., lived through the depression and WWII. The former taught them that capitalism doesn’t work perfectly; the latter, that there may be political systems or governments as potentially evil as communist ones, and, in addition, that the US sometimes acted as an imperial power similar to the Soviets. Hence their openness through the years to labor and environmental movements, or later on their understanding of things like the Nicaraguan revolution. They might even think that Castro (gasp) was not an unexpected result of US-Cuba history.
The other thing is that sometimes US conservatives don’t realize how right wing US politics is compared to similar societies. I met a conservative MP from Europe once, who quipped that he was probably to the left of the Democratic Party. The notions of Medicare for all or certain workers rights are not radical ones among our European cousins. Finally, most network staff and reporters are urbanites, so at least on social issues like women or gay rights, they have friends or co-workers whose presence argues against opposition to these movements. Finally, finally, there’s the “kill the messenger” factor, used most radically recently by Trump, e.g., Trump lies about refugees — media reports what he got wrong — Trump calls it fake news, that media are enemies of the people.

Blah, blah, blah. Opinion noted and discarded, like every other racist screed you post.

Cronkite, Eric Sevareid, Peter Jennings, Dan Rather the whole lot of them were left wing biased news readers. Notice I didn't call them journalists.

You don't even understand what your are viewing, you just have an obsessive compulsion to make an utterance...
You fail to learn... Thank you, for confirming your willful choice.

None of us needs to read an article to learn the warped view of media of most conservatives.

Look around. Just read what they type. Talk to one. It's funny.

How long would it take a dozen or so monkeys typing randomly on typewriters to come up with that exact same story?
If they were Trumpster monkeys, they’d type
MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA,
MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA,
MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, MAGA, then they’d throw shit at each other while screaming I won!, I won!, I won!

Fox News' Sean Hannity Says He Doesn't Vet the Information He Gives Out:
" We have always been independent, follow our own path on the show. That's not going to change for me ever."

Over the past month Hannity has been pushing unsubstantiated conspiracy theories about the presidential election.

Last week, Fox News settled a lawsuit with the family of murdered Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich over claims that Hannity and others at Fox News made about Rich's murder being a Democratic conspiracy of some kind, despite there being no evidence.

FOX Shows such as Hannity and Carlson, is nothing more than "A Talk Show, On TV".... it is NOT News Reporting. "The Promotion of Drama Antic's Is Profitable"

When you put it like that, they sound like human garbage.

True. Shame on them for reporting on civil rights, Cesar Chavez and farmworkers plight, problems with the Vietnam war, or Nixon’s coverup of Watergate.
