House Republicans in Ohio just passed HB 151, the "Save Women's Sports act."
The purpose is to address the apparent scourge of transgender women competing in women's sports, from K-12, and college.

To ensure trans women are kept out, they need to prove they were born women by either:

• submission to an internal and external exam of their reproductive anatomy;
• prove normal "endogenously produced levels of testosterone."
• an analysis of their genetic makeup.

The latter two, while less invasive than the first, still requires a blood draw.

And all that is necessary for a person to have to "prove" they are really women? A dispute about their sexuality raised by an opponent or coach.

These people/you people are insane.

Nobody should ever worry about transphobia it doesn't mean anything.

I would tell you don't feel bad if people call you transphobic all that means is you don't want to hump a trans person that identifies as the sex you're attracted to.

So the problem with that is reality. Males have testosterone and much higher quantities than females. So quite a few sports girls cannot compete with boys so they are dominated by boys. Title nine says you have to have sports for everybody and if you're going to have a wrestling team that's going to win against a team of boys you need to pick boys cuz girls can't compete they're not strong enough so you create a girls team.

Just sports for people is commonly referred to as men's or boys League but it's not. Most of them don't have rules against girls competing with them they just can't.

Nobody is really transphobic reality is. Males cannot be female that's not possible.

Ive played against a MTF athlete in softball and if it wasn't for "the rumor mill" I would have never known.
Ive coached softball for 15+ years and my last year of travel ball there was a transgirl in our league. Now it was travel ball so she was better than your avg girl but she didn't even stick out on her own team let alone the league so it was meaningless besides some bigots crying about it.

another sport I didn't coach, track and field, had a mtf and she sucked and never won anything

outside of scholastic sports its nobody's business

World swimming’s governing body FINA has adopted new rules for transgender athletes.

"The International Cycling Union (UCI) increased the transition period on low testosterone to two years, and lowered the maximum accepted level of testosterone. The previous transition period was 12 months but the UCI said recent scientific studies show that “the awaited adaptations in muscle mass and muscle strength/power” among athletes who have made a transition from male to female takes at least two years."

That seems likely to be a sound, evidence-based change to the guidelines for cycling; I've seen some of those studies suggesting that two years may be necessary for some sports.

"FINA members widely adopted a new “gender inclusion policy” on Sunday that only permits swimmers who transitioned before age 12 to compete in women’s events."

This seems like a misleading or confusing characterization by the NY Post. According to a more reliable source:
"The new eligibility policy for FINA competitions states that male-to-female transgender swimmers (transgender women) are eligible to compete in women’s competitions only if “they can establish to FINA’s comfortable satisfaction that they have not experienced any part of male puberty beyond Tanner Stage 2 (of puberty) or before age 12, whichever is later”."

How will swimming’s new transgender rules work?

Swimming’s world governing body has voted to restrict transgender athletes in elite women’s competitions. Here is an explanation of the policy and FINA’s reasoning.

The usual/recommended course of treatment for trans youth proceeds from the least impactful steps: From social transitioning before puberty, to puberty blockers in early adolescence if desired, with medical transitioning beginning with hormone therapy only after some time on puberty blockers, currently recommended no earlier than age 14 and surgical transitioning in adulthood if desired. The NY Post misleadingly states that the new FINA guidelines ban athletes who had not 'transitioned' before age 12 (and explicitly contrasts that against the age 14 recommended minimum), whereas in reality the guidelines are consistent with recommended treatments of puberty blockers beginning in Tanner Stage 2.

Whether that's consistent with scientific evidence of if and when an 'unfair' advantage exists is another question. The Sydney Morning Herald also notes that:
"The policy is to be applied for FINA events. As well as swimming, they include diving, water polo, artistic swimming, high diving and open water swimming."

A debateable case might be made for example that an average advantage in male height constitutes an unfair individual advantage for all trans swimmers who'd gone through male puberty, even if they are within the normal range of female height variation or potentially even below average; an 'advantage' which (unlike muscle mass, haemoglobin etc.) would not be removed through hormone therapy. But it's difficult to see how even that debateable advantage applies equally to artistic swimming or diving as to distance swimming! There's a case to be made for simplicity/consistency, I suppose, or maybe the guidelines will be made more nuanced over time.
