If this keeps up the Govs who sent their troops are gonna get a hard time next election. Abusing the troops seems to be a cottage industry in the Democrat ruled states particularly. The smart Govs have pulled their troops already.

National Guard troops stationed at the Capitol famously have had to nap on the building’s marble floors, but that’s not the worst thing about their working conditions. The food is. The reason: The National Guard Bureau hired a food contractor to feed the troops, but the contractor simply messed up.

Here’s a picture of today’s “breakfast” as passed along to me.

That is typically what I get at a hotel during COVID times.

They don't have MRE's? Those would be better than that apple and muffin crap.

It's impossible to describe any Democrat-Socialist planning without including the word "cluster".

see, that's why i'm mad at Biden and Democrats.

when they met and planned out the logistics and meals for the US NATIONAL GUARD (thus usurping the National Guard's Chain of Command) that was wrong. they should have let the experts/leaders of the National Guard do their jobs and take care of the details.

Why are the National Guard whining and complaining?

Being a soldier sucks in general. Doesn't everyone know that?

Are you that cheap? I never bother to pick up the nothingness motels now have. I don't decide if they won't feed me then I won't eat. If you aren't fed for free you won't eat?

In my case it was at a decent hotel ($135 a night or so, good amenities) in almost all cases.

This is how Congress sees our troops:

Have the sleep on cold concrete in 40 degree weather
Give them a 280 calorie meal
Ignore social distancing and jamming them shoulder to shoulder by the thousands

" The National Guard Bureau hired a food contractor to feed the troop "

Who is the food contractor? Probably someone's nephew who just started one up to get a sweet contract.

25,000 troops wasn't a necessity, it was a show of fascist force. Next comes the censoring, spying, data gathering, lockdown on freedom of speech and travel. Whipped up propaganda against political foes.

OMG! Troops bitching about the food... I never, ever heard this when I served... It's a huge tragedy... Impeachment immediately...

Isn’t this what MREs are for?

They don't have MRE's? Those would be better than that apple and muffin crap.

That's what I was expecting as well.
I thought they had a pretty much-unlimited supply of those things?

Nutritionally yes. MREs are field rations. They are cold (at least the ones I had). The guard being held hostage with nothing to do until they escape the clutches of the Biden toadies should at least get three hots and a cot like prisoners in our jails get. A neighbors son was in jail for 6 months on drug charges and he gained 30 lbs in that time.

You think being deployed is akin to being held hostage?

Soldiers can quit any time they like, I have a feeling hostage takers don't just let you out if you ask nicely.

There are heaters for MRE's. You eat them cold only if you want to...or if your Supply Sargent is a jerk.

I don't know how those Guard units are compromised, but when I was deployed in the Gulf War, my unit...a DS Maintenance Company...had our own mess hall personnel with all the equipment we needed to feed the unit...mess tent, cooking tent, appliances, etc. We got two hot meals every day...breakfast and dinner...and MRE's for lunch. Most of the time, the hot meals were T-Rats...not great, but good and filling.

I was in the US Army for a long time and I was NEVER treated the way those Guard soldiers have been treated.

US soldiers CANNOT quit any time they like. (Unless they want to go to jail.)

Here's an idea: do not engage in or cheer on armed rebellion against the US government if you don't like it.

Then why are you farting on about Democrats"?

With confirmation of National Guard Bureau honcho, Trump has chosen all Joint Chiefs

Another DJT ******up

As always, the shitshow can be traced back to the person who caused the need for the Guard to be there to begin with.

LOL

Attributing this to the Biden adminstration.....7 days after inauguration....is EXACTLY the kind of "logic" I expect from the GOPers and their fakenews sources (like the Wash. Examiner).

Whatever the troops in the Capital are getting...or not getting.....right now is a direct byproduct of the general state of readiness of the troops under the previous regime.

But the irony of this "abusing the troops" rhetoric coming from the same people who applauded as the previous regime:
  • - used those troops to cage human beings on the southern border......and
  • - deployed them to attack and tear-gas peacefully protesting Americans in Lafayette Square......and
  • - literally took funds from the Pentagon budget to finance a border wall (that he PROMISED would by paid for by Mexico)
......is truely priceless!

What we've all learned is that (just like the FAKE "Blue Lives Matter" narrative), your side really only cares about "the troops" when doing so serves as an effective PROP or TALKING POINT for your agenda.

Fair enough, I didn't know that not having had any military experience.
Obviously quitting while in a war zone would be rather odd but I thought while training it would be at least possible.
I assume they can be sent home for stuff like compassionate leave for a child being ill or the like?
