The police chief in the Florida city where George Zimmerman lives expressed concerns Thursday that Zimmerman remains able to carry a gun, even after repeated run-ins with police following his acquittal this summer in the Trayvon Martin killing.

“I’m a small-town police chief. If I had the authority to revoke his firearm license, I would certainly sit down and consider that,” Steve Bracknell, the chief of police in Lake Mary, said during a telephone interview with NBC News.

“Does anyone else except me see a pattern?” Bracknell continued. “The word firearm keeps popping up.”

There is no real concern here.
A moving violation while legally carrying is not a part of a legitimate pattern of concern.
A false allegation/assumption is not a part of a legitimate pattern of concern.



And they are still reporting that no gun was found on Zimmerman.

Police said no gun was found on George Zimmerman -- and his wife and other witnesses later said they had not actually seen a firearm.

If I were Zimmerman, after that interview became public, I would call my attorney and see if I had civil lawsuit material. That police chief, in my opinion, was totally out of line. He should be reprimanded.

I do not see it as actionable. He is allowed to have concerns even if they are idiotic. He is also aloud to speak of them.
He even went as far as to couch them with "if".
He didn't say he would revoke it, only that he would consider it.

I do not see it as actionable. He is allowed to have concerns even if they are idiotic. He is also aloud to speak of them.

He should be ashamed of himself.

Think he'd say of a copper who'd been put on Admin Leave for a bullying complaint during an interview with the press: "Does anyone but me see a pattern? The word bullying keeps popping up." He'd be hung from a yardarm in the town square.

Just saying I don't see anything actionable (sufficient reason to take legal action) in his response.
If the city counsel, Mayor, or whomever is in charge of him wishes to to admonish him for fueling the ire, that is their prerogative, nor would I complain if it was only an admonishment.
