Ok, so far i have only seen 2 differant awards, the "military" one, and the "reverse debate" one (and I suppose I should count teacher's "@$$hat award").

Point is, I think that there are many other things that people could have awards for. Like, I personally believe that conscientous objectors deserve an award*. Maybe, college degrees?

(I am probably missing some crucial decision to limit the number of awards, but oh well)

*Call them cowards in 3...2...1 GO!

There are also awards for moderators past and present, as well as for participating in True Debates and Private Debates.

I propose awards for the following:

Best use of a non sequitor.

Best use of denial that what one says repeatedly actually indicates their point of view on the subject.

Best percentage in successfully announcing very dramatically that one is going to report a thread and positive results in subsequent modaction.

Best use of adjectives to elicit emotional responses.

Most frequent use of "you .... " followed by a political persuasion or affiliation of one's choice".

Most creative extension of the enemy of my enemy is my friend philosophy.

Best legs.

awards can be given for the last one first.

I suggest a "troll of the year" award. Awarded to the person who consistently ruins threads with information that is meant to turn open honest debatable threads into partisan bickering. And for starting overtly biased threads/polls.

Maybe make the award look like that thing from lord of the rings.

WWDP....DP Smack Down...DP Raw.....an award shaped like a wrestling belt for the best flamer in the Basement. Only one member at a time holds it, and it must be fought for in a special Basement forum Titled "Octagon" or "Ultimate DP Championship", in a somewhat structured environment, where only the fighters can post, decided by his honor the Warden teacher.

An award for the most respected opponent, decided similar to Asss Hat, only gay.

COWARDS!

Say, I used to go out with this guy who called himself a "veteran of a veteran" (his dad was a nutty vietnam vet).
Maybe I can get an award for being a veteran of a conscientious objector (my dad was a nutty CO). :)
College Degree Awards?
Okay.
How about... awards for.... thanks?
When a person has been thanked 200 times, they get a big trophy under their name: "Most Useful Debater".
In fact, how about when somebody gets 200 thanks, they become an honorary mod?

:thanks

I propose awards for the following:

Best use of a non sequitor.

Gardener; it's "non sequitur", however.

Best use of denial that what one says repeatedly actually indicates their point of view on the subject.

No ideas.

Best percentage in successfully announcing very dramatically that one is going to report a thread and positive results in subsequent modaction.

No ideas.

Best use of adjectives to elicit emotional responses.

/shyly raises hand...

Most frequent use of "you .... " followed by a political persuasion or affiliation of one's choice".

Navy Pride... "my liberal friend" (alternately, I'd nominate him for most wanton and profligate use... of... ellipsis...)

Most creative extension of the enemy of my enemy is my friend philosophy.

Many recent possibilities here. Politics make strange- and I do mean strange- bedfellows.

Best legs.

To determine the appropriate recipient of this award, we'll need a special picture thread: leg pix.

awards can be given for the last one first.

Above- bold text- are my nominations.
Might I suggest... best spelling?

I also nominate Dough Girl for most profligate use of the :rofl emoticon.

edit: we dont need a "leg pix" thread, after all. I'll nominate Tashah for that (I had forgotten about her).
If there's anyone on this forum with better legs than her, I'll eat my hat.

I thought of another award:

Most Missed Former Member, to be awarded in absentia... and I vote for CoffeeSaint.

:( / sniff...

Hehehe.....
If she sneezes and thinks that means the baby is bad luck, she should have the right to abort it.
Men are irrelevant to the question of a pregnant woman, and should remain so.
One wonders then why ever posted on an abortion thread.
You just labled yourself a hypocrite, then.
So be it.
Oh, that's why.

I sure would have appreciated his insight on "In God We Divide", 'cuz if he is a priest with legal powers to marry, then not only is he himself violating the 1st but his Church of Starbucks needs to be free from any FDA regulation, as such regulation would also violate the 1st.

I wonder what ever happened to Fantasia.

My lord, woman--get over him! He's married anyway! He was a fun debator and it would be nice if he returned...but geez...you're maudlin over him:roll:
