The Food and Drug Administration pulled its authorization of two of the most-used monoclonal antibodies to treat COVID-19 this week, leaving doctors with fewer options to help their patients avoid the hospital. Why did the FDA shut them down? Because the two, from drug-makers Regeneron and Eli Lilly, don't work against the omicron variant that now causes more than 99% of COVID-19 infections in the United States. "All the data show that these older antibodies are ineffective against omicron," said Dr. Daniel Kuritzkes, chief of the division of infectious diseases at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. It was clear that for patients with omicron infections the monoclonals were "doing nothing," said Dr. Eric Topol, founder and director of the Scripps Research Translational Institute in La Jolla, California. "There's overpowering data (that these) monoclonals are unable to bind to omicron," he said.
It's a difference between oppressive government control...and personal/local control.Monoclonal antibodies were 'doing nothing' against omicron. That's why FDA pulled its authorization.
Will someone please send Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis the memo?
I'm tired of his constant baby-whing about the FDA pulling its monoclonal antibodies authorization.
Except Omicron isn't the ONLY Covid out there.
Apparently, the vaccine isn't doing anything against Omicron either. Any chance the FDA pulls authorization from that one?
Josh darn it if a state wants to use thalidomide as a morning sickness remedy they should be allowed to regardless of what the FDA saysIt's a difference between oppressive government control...and personal/local control.
Actually, it's the doctors who want to use monoclonal antibodies. The state just wants to help them.Josh darn it if a state wants to use thalidomide as a morning sickness remedy they should be allowed to regardless of what the FDA says
And you can push your hyperbole at a useful idiot. I'm not one of them.
You are dismissed.
Are you serious? Cmon man your gonna cost big pharma trillions
He is wrong. And you swallow it hook, line and sinker.
"Science". Duh!Okay since you claim you know the deal, explain why mRNA vaccines with their spike proteins differentiate themselves from actually getting the virus with spike proteins!

Which is?
So you have no clue!I don't have to. He is still wrong.
See post #13
Over your head.
See post #13.
Currently, the percentage of covid infections in the USA is 99.9% Omicron, and .1% deltaExcept Omicron isn't the ONLY Covid out there.

He's probably referring to my original post which was entirely tongue and cheek. The vaccine is a therapeutic much like monoclonal antibodies. Neither will keep you from catching the virus but may help lessen symptoms. So you have no clue!
see above postNot at all. Where do you get this information?
Dang and I thought he was a scientific guru who could tell me the difference between spike proteins in an mRNA vaccine v the virus itself, since the anti vaccine guys are mentioning this point without elaborating. He's probably referring to my original post which was entirely tongue and cheek.
