MOH Recipient Bob Howard Dead at 70

Bob Howard died of cancer today at the age of 70. He was a remarkable man who was prevented from being awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, our nation's highest military honor, three separate times because the law specifies that one can only be awarded the medal once per lifetime.

Here's a little about his Army career.

Wrong there is no Law that state you can't be awarded the MOH more then once, as for a matter of fact 19 Men have been awarded the MOH twice with 5 being for the same actions.

The rule is that the MOH can only wear one at a time, the Army and Air force bestow an Oak Cluster to be worn on the medal while the Navy bestows a Gold star that also is worn on the medal.

I had the honor of meeting Col. Howard along with other MOH at Arlington National Cemetery in 2002.
