Our entire way of life going back to the 30's. It goes further back when you realize that Teddy Roosevelt was actually more like a Democrat than a modern Republican.

So why do I make the claim that modern leftists are charlatans? Look at California. Leftists claim to support the poor, the disadvantaged, and the destitute. Those are all great things and I agree that we should help. Yet, let's look at the midterm elections. Look at the propositions:

Prop 10: Allow communities to enact their own rent control and apply it to currently exempt properties. It was defeated.
Prop 8: Limit the profits that dialysis clinics get. It was defeated.
Prop 6: Repeal the gas tax rise. It was defeated.

These things ought to be no-brainers for anyone looking out for workers. California has the highest rent in the nation, and yet the state voted to leave the situation as is? They're fine with DaVita and other dialysis clinics making huge profits off of people with kidney issues? They're fine with a gas tax that is felt the most by the poorest in the state?

What the stated voted for was sticking it to workers while supporting the wealthy, do-nothing elite class. Why does DaVita need those massive profits? Why do landlords need rent raises of 10% per year for doing nothing? Why are we paying for our roads by taxing poor workers? This is a state dominated by leftists, and the things that go on here are what lefitsts complain about all the time, and they are good complaints! It turns out, though, that this is empty rhetoric, and that the left is just looking out for the rich and powerful. Be careful about whom you support. People are willing to lie to your face to get in power.

No need to look across the country. From state to state there can be marked differences. I grew up in central FL and have spent several years living in MS. Both southern states with similar histories, but while MS has held fast to many of it’s “old ways”, FL has evolved and progressed. If you were to speak with the average FL conservative and then speak with the average MS conservative, you might not realize that they’re members of the same party.

Just an FYI..California already has the one of the most stringent rent control laws in the nation, Prop 10 was written and heavily lobbied by mega outside developers, hoping to siphon money from the state and then impose their own high rent laws, free from State regulations...

Prop 8 is meh...California blueshiled and bluecross already covers 100% dialysis coverage, limiting their profit only means companies will find other ways to circumvent the laws...again California has very high regulations and standards for such companies top 3 or 4 I forget which, more laws won't help the patients anyway and convoluted matters more. I actually vote yes, but as I said ...Meh!

Prop 6 was just utterly stupid...I am glad it was defeated

If you like low taxes and like to live in dirt then you can go to Somalia or Texas...Not sure which is worst!

I am in favor of paying for what I use. I am in favor of clean and well maintained roads, clean air, working lights, safe roads...you know things that cost money have. If I have to pay more at the gas to have these then be it. If I don't like it, then I can just ride my bike!

You have an ideology. You see everything through the lens of your ideology. Facts are distorted and used only to confirm your ideology.

1. The problem with propositions is people by default choose no. Most voters don't understand these proposition issues. Only a minority of voters pay attention to these. It's hard to get any proposition passed.

2. For prop 8 special interests spent millions convincing people that patients would die if the prop 8 was passed. Maybe voters believed the ad campaign.

3. Not all California voters are "leftists." The world is not as simple as left and right as you imagine. California voted for Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
