I was horrified to see that a woman had been killed by falling tiles in the ‘Big Dig’ Tunnel under Boston.
I am troubled to see that Governor Mitt Romney is moving to gain control of inspections of the tunnel. I suppose for the State of Massachusetts.
It occurs to me that giving Mitt Romney’s office more control over the tunnel will be about as effective as Governor Bush’s control over the border in Texas. During Mr. Bush’s governorship in Texas over 5 million illegal immigrants entered Texas alone.
The tunnel is a Federal project. The tunnel problems cannot be adequately overseen by the office of the Governor of Massachusetts.
In light of the fact that Mr. Romney is considering a run for the presidency I look with doubt on his basic reasons for wishing to take over the inspections of the tunnel project. The results of any inspections will then be unavailable to the national audience.
Americans from coast to coast will be unable to fairly determine whether or not Governor Mitt Romney could have and should have done much more to ensure that the project was on time, within budget and most importantly - safe. It seems he didn’t do much of anything about it - until, finally, this woman was killed.
Predictably the Republicans in the Massachusetts House and Senate followed along.
A Federal level review of the project, I feel, is in order.
Romney’s apparently politically motivated investigation will, I believe, yield little and hide much.

Romney made the right call. The feds guranteed safety, and this is what hapened. he needs to address the situation and work with evetryone to clear this up.

How many Americans have to die to appease these new Republicans and their money-hungry power-grab?

What does this comment have to do with anything?

Now I can see why I am more and more starting to look like a Moderate Democrat, when only a few months ago I was considered very liberal...:doh

I can compare what is happening in Massachusetts is by directing you to the 'Teapot Dome Scandal'. In this case, with Mitt Romney's Big Death, the natural resource being plundered is cash through Federal agencies, which, was originally collected as taxes from us.

You wouldn't know a Liberal if it spit in your face.
Real Republicans want the party cleaned up.
Your partisan patter is political propaganda.

Well you're right about one thing, that Republican stronghold of Massachusetts is certainly corrupt.

Just like the Republican bastion of New Orleans, right?

Yeah. I hate how New England goes solid red every national election.

"Well you're right about one thing, that Republican stronghold of Massachusetts is certainly corrupt.'

What would you call the democratic "Kennedy" stronghold on the state?

OH gee.....

Do we do that in America?

You compare the DWI Bush got..........with the Kennedy rap sheets........PLEAZE.

And you talk about the Republicans in Mass.........come on get real.

In all seriousness, the people voted. They got what they got.

:attn1:Notice: I am by no means defending the above mentioned actions by Kennedys' or Bush.:attn1:

I am not a Republican or Democrat......I think both parties are corrupt, and I am sick of all politicians in general.

But when I hear those on the Democratic side continually slam Republicans because they are more evil..........and they think Democrats are so upstanding and moral, it makes me sick.

I think you may have misread the tone of my post.

Not very observant to the icons under someone's name is she?
She had to ask me if I was a democrat once.

Anyway, what does Romney stand for? What's his line? I heard he's considering the 08 run. Any thoughts?

The woman is dead and the New Republicans want everyone to look the other way.

They are a disgrace to the party and the nation.

People die.
It happens. Accidents happen. We should be thankful that only one person died instead of alot more.

Stop focusing on "hating" for a bit and realize what your making a big deal out of.

Everyone's entitled to consider whatever they like. Doesn't mean they've got any chance.

Put it this way: He's looking better than Pataki, not as good as Gingrich.

All three of whom trail Giuliani, McCain, Allen, and even Rice. In any other year, Romney would be a good option as a centrist, drawing from both sides. Unfortunately for him, the GOP has an abundance of those this year.
