I was more than a little shocked when I found out that last Spring, Irene Triplett, the last Civil War Pensioner beneficiary ( she was the daughter of a Union Soldier) receiving money from the US Government for the Civil War had died .

Now, it appears the last surviving widow of a Civil War soldier has passed;

Ah she was 17 in 1936 when she married a 93 year old veteran.

Not sure I want to celebrate that.
