This is a case that touched and moved and shocked people across Germany.
A 14-year-old German girl was found dead in a lake in Teufelssee, Germany, nearly 300 kilometers from home on Friday, after she was believed to have been lured away by a convicted pedophile.
A sweet, shy and reserved girl. For example, Ayleen Ambs from Gottenheim in the German state of Baden-Württemberg was described in German media by people who knew her. The 14-year-old German disappeared without a trace on July 21. Several searches later, her body was found floating in a lake in Teufelssee in Hesse on Friday. Almost 300 miles from home.
That Thursday, July 21, Ayleen had left home around 6 pm. She was supposed to visit a friend, but disappeared after no one opened the door. Since then, her parents have not heard from their daughter. Messages and telephones went unanswered.

Ah right. When I saw the German word I thought: doesn't this mean evil or Hell or something. Was quite close. My German is incredibly weak, but for some reason I know I've seen the word before.Btw: Teufelssee translates as "Devil's Lake".

The 29-year-old was dealt with by the police in the past, when he tried to rape an eleven-year-old girl at the age of 14. He was included in a rehabilitation program, where he was treated by a psychiatrist between 2007 and 2017, and was later released.
Ayleen and the suspect corresponded for several weeks. Her body was found 299 kilometers away from her home village of Gottenheim in Baden-Württemberg. Police still don’t know how he killed the victim, but her clothes were found in his apartment. The day before the girl’s body was discovered, he was arrested with the help of a warrant on three charges: kidnapping of a minor, sexual assault and murder with intent to conceal a crime.

Her whereabouts were unknown until a body was recovered in Teufelssee lake in the central German state of Hesse eight days later.
German authorities have now revealed Ayleen was taken from her home by car, but "cannot say whether this is voluntary."
They also said in a press conference today that Ayleen's cell phone data suggests "something happened" on the night of July 21 to 22.
Ayleen case: Accused confesses
In the case of the killed Ayleen, the Gießen public prosecutor’s office has now filed charges with the regional court. The girl was 14 years old at the time of her death. Her body was found on the banks of Teufelssee in Wetterau in the summer. A special commission consisting of 30 investigators has now determined the case, as the Gießen public prosecutor’s office further reports.
