'Miracle' Babies Survive Indonesian Tsunami

The 2-month-old boy was found in a storm drain on Pakai Island. Both his parents died in the tsunami, The Press Association reported.

The baby was taken to a hospital, suffering from fluid in his lungs and scratches on his face. He has been named Imanual Tegar. "Tegar" means "tough" in Indonesian. He is recovering in a humidified crib.


Doctors and nurses have other charges to deal with as survivors pour into hospitals seeking attention.

I suppose it's relative. I wouldn't see being half drowned and washed into a drain while both my parents were being killed as "lucky".

On the other hand, surviving a tsunami when you're too young to know how to swim is very lucky.

At 2 months old, he'll have no memory of his parents or the massive trauma. He survived. That's pretty amazing.
