Military equipment checklist for the paranoid

I guess since I am European I will not add a gun, but plenty of other tools, but really I am going to buy a glock19 also eventually.

1. Swiss army knife
2. Pepper spray and CS spray
3. I prefer this little knife. Bundeswehr und Freizeitshop it has compass and some other necessities like fishing hooks and line and so on in te package.
4. These shoes are superior to anything I have used, and fabulous all round, wet-dry, wetland, cliffland, forest and so on. Adidas - NEW GSG-9.2 Tactical Boots

Damn, couldnt find the set of fork/spoon/knife which take a tiny space, thats good too.
10. Waterproof matches and a magnesium based fire starter or some other form of fire starter that lasts very long.
11. First aid kit

Dont have these things below yet, but are considering buying them as a "must have".

2. Head and face protection.. Vollschutzmaske Shop; Ausrüstung Softair kaufen do anyone know if this protects for gas? (probably not)

I don't get it. Are you enlisted and talking about useful non-standard kit to take with you on operations? Or are you a paranoid civilian preparing a disaster survival kit?

Talking about a have at home list, for practical purposes and survival in extraordinary situations.. Sorry about the lack of clarifications. A civilians military equipment checklist..

Ah okay. I'd definitely recommend water purification tablets. Even in a developed country a civic crisis can damage water supplies.

You should try to use other types of clothing that don't resemble military styles.

It screams this guy has valuable crap in a crisis situation.

I heard someone before suggest something akin to telephone or power company workers clothes.

If all you have is fatigues or a similar style its probably good enough.
In a situation were law and order has temporarily broken down, you have to be on your guard a little more because most folks don't prepare.

If your lumping a pack with visible gear it could invite predatory type people.

But then again you have different gear for urban combat and for mountaineering in times of conflict. And after all you are suppose to be able to use this equipment in times of peace as well, for trekking and such things, not just have it laying around.

That is true. I thought this was more for crisis situations.

Its great for mountaineering. Only way to make that better is scaling down which is just improving your skills.

Well, it would be a semi list. A list that you can take use of in peace time for trekking and such things, and a list you can use in times of conflict, for urban and rural situations.

Camping, keeping warn & dry and so on is of course essential.

Clothes and sleeping.

I would rank proper shoes as the very most important.

I like the Russian Spetsnak gear. From what I've read its really durable and compared to American manufacturers its a hell of a lot cheaper.

Most of their equipment is universal but probably for no more than 3 days hiking or camping.

Well, if things break down into conflict, you sure need equipment that will keep you warn, dry, safe and strong for much more than 3 days.

Their packs are mostly like 3 day packs good for camping and hiking.

There are of army surplus places in the u.s. that sell used and new European military supply's. I like the wool clothing and blankets.

After 3 days you really need to develop better outdoors man skills. At that point all that matters is that you have some cord, warm clothes, a knife and a small pack.

If you can make your own cord then all the better.

A couple quit items of note:

You can't have to much water;
You can't have to many diapers;
Canned food keeps for years and is much, much cheaper then MREs or dehydrated food. Uses less bag space, too.
"Waste management" is the most over-looked survival topic especially since people generally only worry about themselves.
You can't have too many friends.

I run a kimber desert warrior, tlr-2, gunners, reliability package, tripp research magazines.....

HK and sig are both good choices though. the USP is a workhorse.

1911 :thumbdown Why they may be a good old standard it's time to move to the future.

I personally liked the full framed CZ's. From my experience they are top notch.

I just bought the USMC tactical backpack.. Thats a very good item.

Wool clothing is a must.. I have tons of it that I use even in Spain, where its warm.. Wool is the best.

This is the same pistol MESOC-det 1 uses. it was chosen... others are issued... it is a purpose built platform, and one that is proven.

Given that, and the fact I know the platform inside out, it is what I am comfortable with.....

Your argument comes up all the time, the sig and the hk are based on john brownings design..... its design is proven..

My kimber is more reliable than any other pistol i have owned....
