Microbes on Mars?

Of course, this is all speculation. Methane gas was found on Mars late last year, and there are two ways it could have formed:

1) Vulcanism

2) Organic life.

For the sake of argument, let's assume that the methane is caused by organic life, and sometime in the next few weeks, actual microbes are discovered. What do we do then? It depends on your political compass, so I have listed some choices for you to vote on. What should we do?

1) Extreme Capitalist view - Exploit the hell out of Mars, and do whatever it takes to develop new products from the microbes, even if it kills all the microbes in the process.

2) Extreme Environmentalist View - Leave Mars completely alone, turn it into a National Park, and forget anything good that could come from developing Mars.

3) Extreme Socialist View - Microbes are beings too, and must be nurtured. Transfer most of the wealth of Earth to Mars to look after the microbes. If possible, tax the microbes.

4) Extreme Communist View - All the wealth of Mars belongs to the workers. Since the only work being done on Mars is being done by respiration and photosynthesis from microbes, then Mars belongs to the microbes.

5) Extreme Globalist View - Invite Mars into the UN. Bring a microbe to New York as the UN representative for Mars. Sure, he'll just sit in his glass jar and say nothing, but that is more meaningful than what we hear from most UN Representatives today.

6) Extreme Neocon View - Invade Mars.

7) Extreme French View - Surrender to Mars.

8) Extreme Religious View - Send missionaries to Mars to either convert the microbes or kill them all and let God sort them out.

9) Extreme Cosmologist View (The Holographic Universe) - The microbes are nothing more than a projection, and therefore, aren't real, and neither are we.

10) Extreme Insanity View - DanaRhea is one crazy mother****er.

I had to go with the extreme globalist view. I prefer to call it the extreme intergalactic view however due to this is not a global view anymore seeing how Mars is outside Earth.

I have to vote #10.

What I find interesting is the thought that finding life somehwere other than earth destroyes the idea of Creationism/ID.

Not at all sure how the latter necessarily follows from the former.

I didn't get that either. I guess it's the mentality that if a God didn't mention it and it is found to exist then it refutes the possibility of a God actually existing?

Could be that God really exists, and decided to pull off a creation in the next county. :mrgreen:

Maybe Mars was the failed test run for Earth. If it had succeeded we could all be Martians.

Or maybe Earth is the test case, and after he destroys the failure, he is going to try another run somewhere in the Andromeda Galaxy. :mrgreen:

Jesus bet God at a poker game that he couldn't redo Earth at 1 millionth the scale of the original. Mars is Earth 2.0 in it's Genesis stage. Those few microbes are actually miniature updated versions of Adam & Eve.

I think that's what we are seeing here. :lol:

You know, most microbes reproduce by splitting in half. Is it a sin on Mars if you don't marry yourself before reproducing?
