Michigan at 'record high' for COVID-19 hospitalizations of children

I am saddened to report that Michigan has 45 children hospitalized with confirmed or suspected cases of Covid 19.

The state is at a record high for hospitalizations for pediatrics during the entire pandemic and our hospital reflects that," said Dr. Rudolph Valentini, a pediatric nephrologist at Children's Hospital of Michigan and group chief medical officer for the Detroit Medical Center.
Statewide, 45 children were hospitalized Tuesdaywith either confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19, according to state data.

That's exactly what Michigan needs to do. Unfortunately, Governor Whitmer seems to have been rattled by the right-wing extremists form this time last year, so she's reluctant to put into place the life-saving measures that those same death cultists will fight against.

At the very least, Michigan needs to return to online learning only and to cancel all youth sporting events.

It should close down but our Govenor cannot close it down since the GOP controlled senate filed to take away her power to close down the state and Michigan Supreme Court ruled in their favor.

That Biden pushed the kids back to school, with sport, was very unwise. We should have taken the time to prepare for a reopening in the fall.
 
The. UK variant is hitting children and teens and many are requiring hospitalization. Our schools have been pretty much open for the entire school year, closed for and extended period around Christmas, but are now closed due to spread in many, many schools. Our local high school has closed with 15 affected teens. Two in hospital.

The base strain of the coronavirus wasn't very dangerous to kids, on average. This one is.

All this talk about how cons believe they are "for the children"? Especially the QIdiots? Time for them to put their money where their mouth is. Kids can go without sports for a few weeks. They'll be fine.
 
Maybe Michigan's governor will be able to continue to stretch out the suffering on behalf of the super rich's war against small business competitors for years. All we are seeing is the obvious. All the Democrat governor has done is pursue maximizing her kissing the ass of mega billion dollar international corporations.

What are you talking about? It is scientific fact that professional athletes can not be infected or infect anyone while actually playing professional sports on the sports teams of billionaires. This why they don't wear masks.. It is only when on the sidelines that they can be infected or infect anyone. Just turn to any sports channel to know this. It is not possible to be infected or infect anyone while playing sports face to face with others - only when not playing sports.

Or are you trying to sell the conspiracy theory that the reason all covid-19 rules are ignored for professional sporting events that are businesses of billionaires, are you? It is a fact that masks do not inhibit breathing and certainly the masks rules are not based up wealth. The ONLY reason pro athletes don't wear masks is because no one can be infected by covid-19 when playing contact and close contact sporting events.

They should have all children out playing sports with each as much as possible to protect them from covid-19. That's a scientific fact.

The excessive shut down in Michigan and reopening during a time when variants are circulating is what’s driving the surge. The virus was patiently waiting for bodies to infect. Ironically, they do need to shutdown now. You would think Trump supporters would let go of their ego‘s in order to save their children. I doubt it.

When writing an article each reporter decides how they wish to write their article.

I can’t tell you why a reporter did not lead with what I posted. I’m not a mind reader.

The state of Michigan has had a state mask mandate in place since July.
When the Governor was no longer able to extend the mandate the heath department continued it and never rolled it back.

Michigan’s bars and restaurants also are only allowed to have up to 50 percent capacity, tables must be 6 feet apart,
And a maximum of 6 persons at a table.

Sorry but these people do not care.

Two different acquaintances of mine just had a recent Covid scare within the past two days with their kids and had to get their kids and themselves tested.

Negative, thank God, but this weekend one is going to a soccer tournament and the other a basketball one. So don't tell me they give a F*** about their kids getting sick.

What kind of parent would let their child play sports during a pandemic? Why do schools, even if open for learning, even allow sports?

Extracurricular activities are extra. The Karen and manbaby parents can adapt just fine to not having their rascals sent off to sports camp.
