Donald Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Cohen, 52, was sentenced on Wednesday for his role in the payment of hush money to women who said they had affairs with Trump, and for lying to Congress about a proposed Trump Tower project in Russia that was discussed during the 2016 election campaign.

The first substantial prison sentence of someone close to Trump, and it certainly won't be the last.

This begs the question, if Cohen is being sentenced for a crime that was directed by Trump, what sentence should be imposed on Trump?

For those who say "Cohen is a liar" let us not forget that Cohen taped all of his conversations with Trump. For all of Cohen's faults, he did, indeed, have the wisdom to tape Trump, which suggests that Cohen foresaw this day and believed he was conspiring with Trump in criminal activity.

Lock him up!
Lock him up!
Lock him up!

Lol, can't wait for the 'perjury traps are real!' legalese speakers to show up.

Sent from Trump Plaza's basement using Putin's MacBook.

Or the "He pleaded guilty to crimes that weren't against the law." That's my personal favorite.

I think the good man brought it upon himself; like the judge said:

'Judge William Pauley, meanwhile, noted that Cohen pleaded guilty to a "veritable smorgasbord of fraudulent conduct," which was motivated by "personal greed and ambition." '

Echoing the language prosecutors used when referring to Trump in court filings, Pauley noted that Cohen admitted that he made the illicit hush-money payments “at the coordination with and the direction of Individual-1.”

My bet is the answer to your question is contained in one or more of the 3 dozen sealed indictments sitting on the DC docket at this time.

The article doesn't list the breakdown of sentencing per crime, other than 2 months for lying to Congress. Is there a court document that breaks down the campaign finance violation sentence vs the various tax evasion sentences?

What will come first? That or some whatsboutism about Obama or someone else?
5$ donation goes to the forum if their first effort isn't to distance Trump from his own personal lawyer.

Lawyer? Nah, he was a baggage handler!

I think the new one is he was a big boy and knew what he was doing. Somehow this make Trump innocent.....

And the answer is no. He's being sentenced for crimes that had nothing to do with Trump.

Literally the most successful witch hunt in history.

My vote goes to Dorothy Gale of Kansas.

I think this sentence is fair. I suspect Cohen and his legal team will soon make an additional deal with the Sovereign District of NY for complete and total cooperation hoping to knock this down some.

...

And which one would that be?

The charges Cohen pleaded guilty to:

Charges brought by the Southern District:

Count 1-5: Evasion of assessment of income tax liability for pleading guilty to failing to report more than $4 million in income from 2012 through 2016.

Counts 6: False statements to a bank for Cohen pleading guilty to understating debt from his taxi medallion business in the process of applying for a home equity line of credit (HELOC) with a bank.

Count 7: Causing an unlawful corporation contribution for when he pleaded guilty to orchestrating a payment made by American Media to Karen McDougal for her “limited life story”, an allegation that she had an affair with Donald Trump.

Count 8: Excessive campaign contribution for when he pleaded guilty to making an excessive political contribution when he paid adult film actress Stephanie Clifford aka Stormy Daniels $130,000 for her story and silence about Clifford’s alleged affair with Donald Trump.

Charge brought by Robert Mueller

Count 1: False statements to Congress for when Cohen pleaded guilty to making false statements to Congress on August 28, 2017 when he sent a two-page letter to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) and the House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) as well as during testimony before Congress.

And the answer is no. He's being sentenced for crimes that had nothing to do with Trump.

Really?!?!?!?!?!? Lets put that claim to the test. If you take Trump completely out of this and Cohen had never met him - which of these crimes would still stand?

I can see this one

But al the others are linked to Trump and his work for Trump.

The campaign violations and lying to congress were at Trumps direction....

Or his mom. If his mother was never in the picture, would any of this ever have happened? Come on.
