Michael Cohen Acknowledges Payments to Doctor Online Polls for Trump

To the exact opposite, it is Mueller and not Trump who determines how long he is imprisoned. Therefore his SOLE motivation is to tell ANY lie that Mueller's team of 100% Trump hating Democrats want him to tell. Cohen's single incentive is to tell ANY and ALL lies Democrats want him to tell against President Trump. Telling the truth if it support Trump could get Cohen locked up for decades.

I never said it was a determination for Trump to decide how long Cohens in prison. If he stands up and says: Donald Trump hired me to do XYZ, and there is a tape or receipts that prove exactly that, then nothing is going to erase it. Unless the president can prove Cohen held him at gun point to make those statements or pay that money. Never under estimate a weasel because you'll be road kill every time.

The way it works is the special counsel has or will have verification or special counsel will disprove it. If what Cohen has said cannot be verified it will be or has been discounted. If special counsel can prove that Cohen is intentionally lying Cohen cannot hope to have his sentence adjusted. Cohen has incentive to tell the truth now.

At this point in time it would seem that Cohen has nothing to gain by lying. Cohen can't know everything Mueller knows. There could be written evidence. There could be others involved who have already provided evidence or might have already testified to Mueller. We don't know. Cohen knows what is possible. Why lie at this point?

Cohen is as sharp as a sock full of soup but I believe he is smart enough to know that if there is evidence or possible corroboration Mueller may have it or discover it.

He has zero credibility and would sell his soul to avoid dying in prison. Desperate men do desperate things.

Use of lower-level rats to convict mod bosses and the like - anyone at the top of a suspicious organization - has happened forever in normal law enforcement settings. Not one of you have ever complained that someone accused of being an illegal alien drug dealer was unfairly convicted because a street thug that claimed to answer for him must have been lying to take him down.

The concern about use of an informant is as fake as anything else. That, or start a campaign to get police snitches out of court. If snitches are untrustworthy to the point that we ignore them, all snitches are unworthy.

Exactly. It wouldn't benefit Cohen in the least to try and sell some line of bs at this point. Anybody thinking he's going to "lie to save his neck" isn't paying attention to the fact that Cohen's office was raided and any tapes, receipts and records are in custody. This won't be some lame CNN tv interview where he can spout off like Giuliani (that man NEEDS to go!!) Cohen will be held to what he says.

As for your last sentence, of course he knows. He knows what was in his office and is now evidence.

Right, I believe Cohen will do whatever he needs to do to avoid a lengthy prison term or to shorten his sentence, including telling the truth at this point. Why would he not?

Again, the way the system works is the special counsel takes testimony and follows it, questions it, and documents testimony. Special counsel, monitored by the DOJ, at some point will present its findings to the grand jury and/or Congress. The special counsel does not prosecute. Special counsel is part of the process. They are not going to submit hearsay and unsubstantiated testimony as evidence. That is not how it works.

What use would Cohen's testimony in the matter at hand if it can't be verified? None. If what Cohen says can't be proven then the story goes nowhere. Mueller gets nothing of value. If Cohen is lying and Mueller can prove it then Cohen has no hope of lightening his sentence.

The story did not come from Cohen, it has independent verification. Trump is not going to wiggle out of this one.
