Mexica Movement: How would you debate them?

T

TheDisharmony

Mexica-Movement is a racist hate group in Los Angeles with a strange philosophy of teaching brown pride through European victimization. They have to go back to the year 1492 to explain why they are such failures in 2007.They claim that all people of European descent are the real illegal immigrants and that 'European colonists killed 95% of indigenous people in North America and stole the continent and its resources. They claim that all borders on the continent are false and European imposed They feel that white people should go back to Europe because they are still benefiting from the "crimes" of their ancestors. They also feel that they should receive reparations and they wish to rename the entire continent Anahuac and a single nation.

How much more sad and pitiful can these guys get?

The website, MEXICA MOVEMENT: Indigenous Liberation for Anahuac

The email, mexicamovement@sbcglobal.net

This is their "Warrior Battle Cry"

TRUE WARRIORS FIERCELY DEFEND THEIR PEOPLE

AND INTELLIGENTLY CONFRONT

TRAITORS AND THE ENEMIES OF THEIR PEOPLE

BETTER TO LIVE AND DIE FIGHTING FOR THE LIBERATION OF ANAHUAC

THAN TO LIVE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE AS A SLAVE OF THE EUROPEANS!

These people are utterly pathetic...I posted their website and email for a reason...hint hint

I have a log book of these anti-American websites that I have decided to start posting on here...We must start fighting back!

I call on the rest of you to post any and all Pro-Illegal web-sites in this thread. :doh

Such is how it has been for all of known history and even anthropological history, such is the history of homo sapiens, who replaced Neanderthals likely displacing them as well.

The "flaw" in what they claim is they appear to believe they are pure-blood and then further assert they are the original people. It is likely that for 99% of them that is not accurate.

The racial purity thing always falls away - between rape by raiding armies and that both sexual attraction and romantic attraction crosses ethnic and racial lines.

For a while not long ago, I was "discovered" by "my people" and was declared to be purely of such ancestry, making me increasingly rare. With this, some pressure was attempted to be put on me to join-up so-to-speak, take my place, involve and certainly to have children by a woman of "pure" ancestry too. But it was a bunch of crap in my view of it.

First, "my people" was continuously being-repopulated by run-aways from dozens of tribes and even runaway slaves - all accepted as members of the tribe as historically "tribe" was not a racial term, but more a social membership term - like "American" isn't a racial identity. So my "purity" probably has a dozen different peoples from various places around the Country and probably a black runaway slave or two in there - as they stubbornly held to their swamp fortress holding off the US military - becoming the only "tribe" to never surrender or technically be defeated. All adding up to nothing now - other than if I became an official member I'd probably get some small check each month as my share of the Casino's income. Yeah, that's preserving the heritage, huh?

The flaw in the group the OP is about? It is that what they are asserting about themselves to be is something they are not. No, they are not the original people.

It's like Obama as "the black president" - finally a triumph for the prodigy of American slaves - only there is NO slave ancestry in his heritage and he is as much white as African-American, and his "African" side likely is not entirely "black" either. Simply, the largest percentage of his heritage is "white Caucasian" and 0% African-slave. In the "movement" you tell of, many of them may well be more "European" than indigenous - specifically Spanish. The Spanish were not an indigenous people to the Americas.

In short, the bottom line flaw is that they are historically and anthropologically ignorant.

It is curious how historic tribal, ethnic and/or racial groups are later combined as one in discussions. Such as "Anglo-Saxon." Those two different peoples slaughtered each other for hundreds of years - but now defined at the same? Most people put all Native Americans (Indians) into the same racial categories, when in fact historical they tended to war against each other and NOT see each other as the same. That also would apply to any part of the Americas etc and most of Europe.

It's really interesting that you asked "how" we would debate them. Facts are the "what", the thing you are using to debate them with. But "how" is really important too I think. There's anger and condescension in your post, which to be honest is probably the way I would have reacted. But if you were going to actually debate with them, try to change their minds, treating them like inferiors would only make it worse. They're clearly proud people, whether that's founded in fantasy or not. Fighting with them will make them fight back harder, whereas trying to understand them might soften them a bit. If their goal is other than they say, that'll show in a debate, because it's pretty clear they are factually inaccurate. But I think the words "fight back" were poorly chosen in a headline about how to debate a movement. A movement is based in a philosophy, and theirs seems to have plenty of cracks.

I guess all I'm saying is, your post seems to be a reflection of the way our current political conversations go: Anger, indignation and a quest to squash. Do you actually want to change their minds, or do you just want them to go away?

I doubt if anyone cares enough about them to waste time even thinking about debating them.

Perhaps not in this particular case, but often an OP such as this one is simply a ruse to give the impression that a group with no recognition or status, or any hope of ever having any recognition or status, has some vast importance that would require a national debate.
What's the point of the thread then?

Well, I would congratulate them on their racial pride, say that I agree they should control all the territories of their ancestors...then collect them all up and ship them south of the Rio Grande border.

When I let them off the bus I would point out that Native Mexican tribes (Anahuac) did not control any territory north of the Rio Grande, so if they really want to claim their ethnic homeland, feel free to march on Mexico City. :)
