Found this article at FiveThirtyEight, and thought it had possibilities of being a fun 'what if' thread, even though there isn't any likelihood of this ever coming about:

Think Silver's analysis is close to the real life result if that ever happened?

I didn't do a search to see if this is already a live topic, so just delete it if that's the case. The article is from 2009, and the demographics may have changed somewhat since then.

Too much of the analysis was based on the 2008 presidential election. If the same analysis was done with the 2010, 2012 or 2014 numbers it would show a much bigger benefit for republicans
