Part of the reason no "real Christian" will get any news play is because it doesn't fit the frame of the media. Incredibly religious people are portrayed as crazy fundamentalists, and anything outside that frame would go against the grain. The media loves Pat Robertson, who else would they get such crazy stories from?

Because there aren't any big Christians out there representing us all doesn't mean that we're bad. There's no big green/socialist/libertarians out there, doesn't mean they're all assholes.

You seem to be quite fond of the man so I guess I assumed you were near identical to him politically. Orwell, being the good socialist that he was, would have no doubt been in favour of the gov't theft of an individual's property for the "greater good".

I don't think Orwell was really a socialist. Especially in his later years he seemed to be more of an anarchist or perhaps a moderate social democrat. Orwell's beliefs aren't really very clear, at least economically. He stated once that "every work he's ever done has been, whether directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism" but, he seemed more like an anarchist to me in his later years. I think Orwell was kinda of his own man.

As for my belief being "close" to socialism or not, well I dunno. Originally I was a supporter of gov't regulation of corporations but I'm starting to lean a bit more right econmically. I think my personal economic beliefs will become clearer as time goes on. My social beliefs have already been defined pretty much so thats that.

And yes, Orwell is my favorite political writer. He seems to be almost exactly like me, in terms of his writing and how he describes certain things.
