Immediately following Melania Trump’s speech from the White House Rose Garden, wrapping up night two of the Republican National Convention, a CNN panel had almost nothing but praise for the First Lady. In her speech, Melania called for unity and understanding, and said she didn’t want to attack the other side because that kind of talk only serves to divide. In Jake Tapper’s observation, in doing so, Melania brought something new to the convention.

“I have to say, not only is it in contrast with her husband,” Tapper said, “it’s almost a contradiction from her husband and the kind of presidency he has led and the kind of convention that he has been throwing.”

In a speech that was reportedly not vetted by the West Wing, Melania was also one of the only speakers between both nights to address the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the racial unrest that has now enveloped the country for months. Besides urging an end to the unrest, Melania acknowledged America’s painful history with race.

As long as they did not get to turn her speech into the general Republican Idiocy... she gets regards for addressing the many Elephants in the Room...

The problem is Trump and all these other cult members who got up spewing ignorance... she seems to speak about some elements of sanity ... When she talked of Children, my critique is she did not address the many kids torn from their families by the Trump agenda and its Administration and Republican Political Silence that supported that vile. She did not talk about the many children who have no idea where their parents are, and the parents who have no idea where their children are.
She did not speak about the families who have been here for years and decades, torn apart and damaged in irreparable ways.
She did not address a single killing of unarmed people by the police.
She did not talk about the fact that American communities need to continue to expand diversity with respect for the equality of every person.
These things should be up front, for someone who's slogan is "Be Best"...

She may not have launched an attack of Democrats in a repeated cycle, she did not address the fact that Trump can't speak without an all out divisive attack on the majority of the nation.
She also did not talk about Trump standing against anything that helps the whole of the country, and she did not talk about the fact that during this pandemic, the Republican Senate Abdicated their duty, and pursued a colluded agenda to try and make Trump take over the role that Congress was designed to respect, uphold and fulfill, they instead deferred to Trump as if he was a King.

This should not sway anyone to get selective amnesia about the vile and divisiveness that Trump and Right Wing Republican promotes and the pursuits to try and create a new version of Jim Crow White Nationalism. We have seen, the look on her face when Trump was inaugurated, and we've seen her publicly swat his hand from hers repeatedly, and those things tell the truths that exist behind the staged performance, which she had no choice but to speak.

At least she tried to save the dignity of herself.... and once this madness is over, it's likely she will leave this mad man quickly, but she will have the platform to at least continue her programs as an Ex-First Lady... then we can see who she is, as herself; without her having to pander any praise on a mad man.

I suspect that when she get's rid of Trump, she will seek to join with other women to do some of the things she said... that have nothing to do with the Trump Agenda. She has to find her way that may take time to distance herself from Trump legacy of madness... Maybe she will and maybe not... When Trump goes to jail, it may make it easier for her to unshackle herself from this monstrosity.

The White House belongs to the American people, it's not the property of Donald and Melania that are merely temporary residents. As far as her speech goes, it was predictable and about as bland as pablum. (look that up yourself)

The Hatch Act is clear and I don't see why you're having so much difficulty understanding it and why the Hatch Act was adopted in 1939 in the first place. You really have to think behind words, that way you figure out for yourself why laws such as the Hatch Act are necessary to preserve a true democracy.

The Hatch Act is a federal law, and specifically, makes it very clear that federal employees cannot participate in partisan political activities. It broadly forbids federal civilian employees, which means anyone working in the campaign including Melania's aides and secretaries, is forbidden from engaging in political activities and the spectacle in the Rose Garden of 'the people's house', was most certainly -- beyond a shadow of doubt, a political activity.

Violations of the Hatch Act have never been taken lightly and have been challenged in the past and taken all the way up to the Supreme Court. The court explained the importance of keeping federal employees from feeling pressured to engage in political work and of preventing officeholders from using federal workers to help their campaigns.

As far as her speech goes, it was predictable and about as bland as pablum. (look that up yourself) Melania criticized people on social media who were 'mean', but has she ever criticized her own husband when he tweeted that Mika Brezezinski was bleeding badly from a facelift or had she condemned her husband for claiming Joe Scarborough was a murderer? He continued this conspiracy theory even though the dead woman's husband begged Trump to stop it because it was doing nothing but causing him more pain.

Trump absolutely savages people all the time, it doesn't matter who they are. He'll stop at nothing to cause more pain for victims of crimes or even for the survivors of a devastating hurricane. He's the most constant, malevolent force in politics on a continual basis, savaging people every day causing immeasurable pain, but Melania never says anything about Trump doing these things to others. She remains noticeably quiet about Trump's evil intent towards others to the extend that he literally wants to destroy their lives.

I could retire any time I want, but I enjoy working and the work I do serves some critical important areas within society, my pay is basically un-obligated, because I don't owe any credit debt, other than house payments. The young people today need to truly learn the history of Unions and how Unions Transformed the protections and benefits of workers. When they learn that, they will demand that Unions be expanded and the system of Pension is restored.

Well... I hope that the legal professional are working on the violation charges and doing so, where they stick like quick drying cement. These Type Acts exist for a purpose, to avoid abuse of the Public Office.
