[h=1]The leading Republican candidate in retiring Rep. Michele Bachmann’s congressional district denies climate science, is virulently anti-gay, and sponsored everything from voter ID legislation to a minimum wage law repeal. No wonder he’s already being labeled “Michele Bachmann 2.0.”Former Minnesota State Rep. Tom Emmer (R) was the first candidate to step up when Bachmannannounced last month that she would be retiring from representing the state’s 6th congressional district at the end of her term. He is best known for unsuccessfully running for Governor in 2010, coming close enough to Democratic candidate and now-Governor Mark Dayton (D) to trigger a recount.
Here are a few things voters should know about Tom Emmer:

What sort of candidates do we really think are going to fill the slot in a district that loved, elected and re-elected Bachmann? She was their representative for a reason - she represented that district.

Bachmann won reelection by a fingernail last time out.

She has won quite handily in past elections but I think that had more to do with the fact that the Democrats were running dog**** candidates against her with no real financial support. That's the one big perk to plastering your face in front of every national media outlet like Bachmann has. It tends to produce DEEP coffers.

Her re-election was only a 1% victory. I think she is not running because she felt she would not be re-elected. Let's hope the people of Minn would not elect another Bachmann-like candidate.

Eh, we can't all be squirrils (some have to be nuts). They keep re-electing Waters, Feinstein and Pelosi so the dems have little room to talk.

That's just it, it's NOT the "people of Minn" who elected her. It's a small subset that live in that one district. The crazy is concentrated in one place.

Keep pretending rational Democrats are equivalent to lunatics like Bachmann, just because you don't like them. It's all conservatives have left -- trying to say Democrats are as bad as tea partiers!

No he isn't nuts. He just doesn't see things the way you do. Neither do I.

Only in bizarroteapartyworld is claiming waiters make too much, denying science, and proposing crank constitutional theories, legitimate positions.

But then, that's all conservatives got left. That and creationism.

I'm starting to believe that humans originated as primordial soup. The more I read certain people in this forum, the more I question human intelligence.

There's no way God made us, but no doubt we evolved from magic dirt clods. Forget where the dirt clods came from tho. THE DEBATE IS OVER!!! Lol....Science has PROVEN that the world started because lightening struck a mud puddle and random magic acts gave us humanity. Don't you dare question me or I'll call you the worst thing a person can be called.....a Christian zealot. I SAID THE DEBATE IS OVER!!!!

Hahahaha. Liberals are so.....mmmmm.....not as smart as they think.
