Witch hunt going on for two days now. Why? Because of a video on Halloween where a candidate said that in high school she dabbled in witchcraft? I don't think that's the reason. I think it's being used as a distraction so we won't be looking at Chris Coons.
Very interesting artical. I hope everyone in Deleware reads it before voting. If you aren't a socialist or marxist I doubt you'll want to vote for this guy.

Chris Coons: Volunteer for Liberation ...

Sep 20, 2010 ... Chris Coons, the freshly minted Democrat selected as Tea Party ..... in his philosophy...no wonder the LEFT is giving O'DONNELL such vicious attention. .... No, Coons will come out in typical pre-election chameleon style ...
The American Spectator : Chris Coons: Volunteer for Liberation Theology

The controversial religious philosophy espoused by radical left-wing activist James Cone and President Obama's one-time spiritual mentor the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Black Liberation Theology is an off-shoot of liberation theology, a Marxist-driven interpretation of Christianity.
And the liberal media -- alarmed at O'Donnell's success and busily running all manner off stories designed to portray her as a right-wing crazy -- has suddenly gone missing on Coons. Silent on a stunning revelation that could prove uniquely fatal to Chris Coons' Senate candidacy in the year of Tea Party rebellion against the Obama Administration's agenda of wealth redistribution.

Dumbest article I've ever read. Nothing but BS and pure speculation.

Members of the Catholic Church follow liberation theology, so I don't see what the BFD is.

BTW, David Brock who is the CEO of Media Matters for America used to write for the American Spectator. He is on the good side now, but I digress.

It looks like some didn't much care who won between Castle the Rino and Coons the Marxist. No wonder so many got their panties in a wad when it didn't turn out to be a given that one of them would be the winner.

Who Supports Chris Coons ? <http://www.delawarepolitics.net/who-supports-chris-coons/>

of Illinois is a big fan. It is not surprising that a Democrat would receive money from a Democrat PAC.
His number two is a little more interesting, Young,Conaway et al with a donation of $17,950 . Now, for those of you who may not have been following along on some of my other articles about Rep. Mike Castle’s campaign finances, Young,Conaway is a Wilmington law firm and Mr. Castle’s number one contributor with $31,330. Now many corporations and companies donate to both parties. I just find it interesting that a law firm that deals in bankruptcy and corporate restructuring, donates to candidates in the same race. It may not be unique, I just find it a little sleazy.
Number three on the Coons hit parade is Skadden,Arps et al, another high-powered financial law firm, donating $17,900.
In fact Mr. Coons’ top ten is populated with law firms and PACs.
DANPAC $10,000
Green Mountain PAC $10,000
Impact $10,000
New Millennium PAC $10,000
Searchlight Leadership Fund $10,000
Jane Street Capital $9,600
Wl Gore & Assoc $7,550
None of this is shocking or illegal . I guess that my point is, that a decision between Chris Coons and Mike Castle is little choice at all.
We can either choose a liberal Republican, Mike Castle, supported by law firms and banking interest, or we can choose a liberal Democrat, Chris Coons, supported by law firms and special interest.
I believe that the only choice for conservatives is Christine O’Donnell. And yes there are law firms donating to her campaign as well.
Stein, Mitchell & Muse $9,600

Killino Firm $2,400
But more telling about the O’Donnell campaign is that it is funded by small businesses like,
Fitzgerald Auto Salvage $4,300

Georgetown Animal Hospital $2,000

Mattress Express $1,000
I believe that if we send Chrisitne O’Donnell to Washington as Delaware’s next Senator, that she will better represent the small businesses of the state and the nation. By bringing conservative free market values with her, the same values that the small businesses that have donated to her campaign recognize.

Right Klik: Chris Coons: Deeply Flawed Candidate
Mr. Coons’ campaign disclosure forms contain numerous errors ranging from minor aggregate contribution calculations to violations of sections 8006(b), 8010(a), and 8012(e). Violation of Section 8006 is a class G felony, violation of Sections 8010(a) and 8012(e) are class A misdemeanors. These violations are outlined below from most serious to minor:

Violations of 8006(b) and 8010(a)

On October 28, 2004 Coons received 6 checks each for the 600 limit from 6 entities. 1)Red Gate II Limited Partnership, 2) Red Gate III LLC, 3) Red Gate IV Associates, 4) Rickman Firstfield Associates, 5) Rickman Piccard LLC, and 6) Rickman Research I Associates. These six entities share the same Maryland address. According to a 2003 Common Cause of Maryland report these, entities (and others) areessentially “shell entities” controlled and set up by William Rickman to take advantage of a loophole in Maryland’s campaign donations limits. In Maryland each business entity can donate up to Maryland’s campaign limits even if the entity is made up entirely of one or more persons who has already donated the maximum amount. This loophole doesn’t exist in Delaware. It’s closed by Section 8012(e). In addition to the 2003 Common Cause of Maryland report. Coons had notice of Rickman’s use of shell entities to make contributions in excess of state campaign limits in an attempt to influence Maryland legislators in a subsequent April 2004 Common Cause of Maryland report , and articles in the 2/4/03 Baltimore Sun ; 7/27/04 Washington Post , 8/5/04 Washington Post

Woooo.....Looks like some Dems aren't so crazy about Coons. Maybe the Tea Party Gal can pick up some votes from them. :)
*************************************************************************************************************

The news of Coon’s spending habits as a County Executive may be the reason Harry Ried called Coons his “pet” or, as some are saying of Coons, “Reid’s mini-me”, a reference to Doctor Evil, a character in the Austin Powers series of movies, who has a “min-me”, a man who looked just like him but who was only 3 feet tall.
Like Reid, Coons is for cap and tax and like Reid Coons has managed to leverage his public career with real estate dealings to make lots and lots more money than their comparatively low income opponents. Like Reid, Coons is wealthy .
Whatever Coons’ REAL politics, and they are more aligned with Liberation Theology than plain old fashioned “liberalism”, his first instinct, when confronting a crisis seems to be to raise taxes. Back in 2007 when plant closings in Newark took place, along with MNBA laying off 3,000 workers, Coons responded with a 17.5% tax increase.
All this heavy reliance on taxing “the rich” through property taxes did not help, as New Castle County reeled from the real estate bubble burst, leaving the county short of funds and Coons and company going out begging for MORE TAXES from financially strapped residents.
Residents, who are enduring all these heavy taxes, are now being asked to support the very man who RAISED THEM SO MUCH in the first place, all so that, according to his website, Delaware doesn’t elect a “Tea Party Senator.”

What revelation are we talking about? Chris was a Regan Republican and went to Africa and came back as a liberal. With regard to calling himself a "bearded Marxist", he says that "it was just in reference to what his Republican friends — making fun of him for his transformation into a liberal — called him."

That's the spin the media has put on it since it's been out there more.

The title? “Chris Coons: The Making of a Bearded Marxist.”

In the article, Coons, then 21 years old and about to graduate from Amherst College, chronicled his transformation from a sheltered, conservative-minded college student who had worked for former GOP Delaware Sen. William Roth and had campaigned for Ronald Reagan in 1980 into a cynical young adult who was distrustful of American power and willing to question the American notion of free enterprise.

Glenn Beck sticks 'liberation theology' label on Obama's Christianity - CSMonitor.com

“There are many Americans with many views of Christian faith that align with what the president believes,” Dr. Attridge says, noting that the tradition of individual responsibility to the larger community runs deep in Christian teachings. He notes, for instance, in Matthew 25, Jesus says that what one does to the smallest member of a community, one has done to Christ. In Romans 12, Paul says that we being many are one body in Christ, and the Gospel of John says that we do belong to one another, by the grace of God we have to care for one another. But most important, Attridge says, this is not really about a genuine religious dialogue. “This is political rhetoric designed to stir up anti-Obama sentiments,” he says.

The bible doesn't say we give our money to the government so that they can give it to who they want. We, as individuals are responsible for caring for others.

Well, there is that "render unto Caesar" thing, but who cares what the bible says? This is a constitutional democracy, not a theocracy.

We operate much more effectively collectively than we do individually and government has a responsibility "...to promote the general welfare..." Things get screwed up not when the government works to help groups of people but when it helps individuals or, worse, corporations.

Obama stuck that label on himself. He chose to attend a liberation theology church for 20 years. All of a sudden he doesn't agree with it? Uh huh.
“This is nothing but political rhetoric,” he said after reading a transcript of Beck's Tuesday show. At best, he adds, Beck has a very narrow view of what constitutes “true” Christianity.

Look, rather than having others do your thinking for you, why not simply state your case? It blows my mind how many of you liberals here on DP cut and paste your opinions? My God, grow a pair, and tell us what you think and why, and without the talking points. If you believe in your heart of hearts that a man as smart and gifted as Barak Obama can attend a church the "preaches" Black liberation theology, and not ascribe to that theology, then explain the reason why Obama would be immune to such an influence, especially when his whole life, and his mentors are of all cut from the same cloth?

In fact, to believe as you do is the clinical definition of a delusion. If it was illegal to hold liberation theological tenents, Obama would be convicted 100% of the time, by any jury, anywhere, but for you apparently, he's innocent?

Odd... very odd..

Media Matters is the child of George Soros.

Odd that he isn't listed as a funder for Media Matters:

Funded with "more than $2 million in donations from wealthy liberals." "Among Mr. Brock's donors is Leo Hindery, Jr., the former cable magnate; Susie Tompkins Buell, who is co-founder of the fashion company Esprit and is close to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, and Ms. Buell's husband Mark; and James C. Hormel, a San Francisco philanthropist whose appointment as ambassador to Luxembourg was delayed for a year and a half in the late 1990's by conservative lawmakers protesting what they called his promotion of a 'gay lifestyle.' That is what charity in Christianity is all about - INDIVIDUALS caring for the needy, the sick, the widowed, the orphaned. When you CHOOSE to give, it not only helps those who need it, but it changes your heart.

Obama and his former church believe it's the GOVERNMENT'S job to do all of these things, essentially FORCING individuals to give. That might help the people involved get food or shelter, but it does NOTHING for the heart of the individual.

Freedom includes the liberty to decide to be stingy or caring.

Your link says that MM is funded in part by Democracy Alliance.

The Democracy Alliance was founded by George Soros.

Democracy Alliance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/16/AR2006071600882_pf.html

An alliance of nearly a hundred of the nation's wealthiest donors is roiling Democratic political circles, directing more than $50 million in the past nine months to liberal think tanks and advocacy groups in what organizers say is the first installment of a long-term campaign to compete more aggressively against conservatives. A year after its founding, Democracy Alliance has followed up on its pledge to become a major power in the liberal movement. It has lavished millions on groups that have been willing to submit to its extensive screening process and its demands for secrecy. These include the Center for American Progress, a think tank with an unabashed partisan edge, as well as Media Matters for America, which tracks what it sees as conservative bias in the news media. Several alliance donors are negotiating a major investment in Air America, a liberal talk-radio network.

But the large checks and demanding style wielded by Democracy Alliance organizers in recent months have caused unease among Washington's community of Democratic-linked organizations. The alliance has required organizations that receive its endorsement to sign agreements shielding the identity of donors. Public interest groups said the alliance represents a large source of undisclosed and unaccountable political influence. Democracy Alliance also has left some Washington political activists concerned about what they perceive as a distinctly liberal tilt to the group's funding decisions. Some activists said they worry that the alliance's new clout may lead to groups with a more centrist ideology becoming starved for resources.

Democracy Alliance was formed last year with major backing from billionaires such as financier George Soros and Colorado software entrepreneur Tim Gill. The inspiration, according to founders, was a belief that Democrats became the minority party in part because liberals do not have a well-funded network of policy shops, watchdog groups and training centers for activists equivalent to what has existed for years on the right.

A lot of people screaming about transparency now didn't seem to give much of a **** back then.

Bzzzt wrong it was founded by Rob Stein, Erica Payne. But yes Soros did give them money so did several other people. And how much power Soros has over them i don't know. There are several other donors too.

From your link:

Democracy Alliance was founded by former Clinton Treasury official Rob Stein, Erica Payne and various donors in 2005.

From Wapo:

Democracy Alliance was formed last year with major backing from billionaires such as financier George Soros and Colorado software entrepreneur Tim Gill.

Whether or not Stein and Payne are listed on the letterhead, I doubt that they're the ones behind the hundreds of millions of dollars that the organization throws around. The fact is that Soros and other wealthy Dems were "major backers" of a group that funded MM, the Center for American Progress, and Air America. That group operates under a shroud of secrecy that would make the Chamber of Commerce jealous at the same time that the beneficiaries of its largess turn around and lambaste the Chamber.

It's really quite amusing.
