I recently found a fun media consumption political bias quiz I thought you guys might enjoy. I feel like there should be more question for better accuracy, but it’s an interesting quiz none the less. I’d be interested in seeing different people’s results if they are ok with sharing them!

I’ll start with mine:

The quiz:

I personally was unsurprised by my results. For someone as far left as I am I make a point of regularly reading news from decidedly right leaning sources like Fox News. Even the breakdown about which subjects I have a more left, right, or center bias makes sense.

Immigration, abortion, and LGBTQ conservative arguments (I feel) have been the same for like 50 years. So once I’ve read the same arguments against immigration for the 10th time I’m just interested in hearing it again. Whereas Trump, COVID, BLM, and vaccine mandates are much more recent so I’m more interested in hearing a conservative perspective.

I'mma hafta call bullshit on this one. It puts me on the right for abortion and covid, which it way off base.

For those questions I believe it’s based on the “have you seen this story” answers. Which there aren’t nearly enough of to be considered accurate in my opinion. I think the overall rating of left/right media bias is probably accurate.

I didn't get past the first question. Too bad.

The fact is, there are very few news sources that I "read or watch", though sources that I do read or watch get their stories from pretty much all of the listed sources.

But I'm not "likely" to read or watch most of the sources in the question.

I get my news from:

1. A few minutes of FOX every morning.

2. A few minutes of talk radio.

3. A few minutes of local TV news.

4. Reading Google News headlines each day.

5. Reading Drudge headlines each day.

6. Reading the Daily Mail headlines each day.

7. Reading the thread titles here and at another message board.

8. Checking the headlines at al jazeera.

Got me on abortion and LGBTQ rights, but I wouldn't call it BS. I interpret the result from my standpoint as hearing the stories (maybe because I am especially sensitive to hearing false statements).

Bias Score - 47% LeftYou engage with a lot of sources, and most of them lean left.

Location Focus
You engage with both U.S. and International news sources.
Factuality ScoreMost of your news sources are reliable in their reporting, but some may sensationalize.

One thing this poll doesn't include which is important to me is the local coverage I get from the local newspaper and media outlets. I read the SF Chronicle almost everyday, view local media and listen to local radio (which would be a little impacted on the survey because NPR is a regular stop for me).
