Cute....
he was still in office, this was legit
Cute....
They did stand with the country. They followed the constitution. The Senate can not convict a private citizen. End of story.
Why did the democrats hold the impeachment so long before turning it over to the Senate? Long after Trump was out of office.
Send this to the DNC in DC. Seriously ...McConnell is a coward and literally absolved Congress from being able to impeach a President who incited a riot, sat back and watched it unfold, ended up with loss of life including Capital Police, have members of his own party targeted for hanging including his own vice President, only to say “well I guess they are more upset than you are“ (to another Republican begging for help.)
McConnell sold out the Constitution and the nation today.
If a President can now do what Trump accomplished there is no grounds to impeach any other President for any reason.
No Trump supporter or Trump “Republican“ can claim being pro law enforcement or pro Constitution ever again.
McConnell literally gave a cop killer a pass today.
Trump should be let go on that process technicality. He was in office when the trial started? REALLY? Anyone else know that?
Some Context…

Just one problem the Senate can not convict a private citizen . Where does it say in the constitution they can convict a private person?wouldnt matter....the process started when he was still in office, he was impeached, constitution requires that there be a trial....senate took a vote on the constitutionality of it, and and voted in favor of going to trial....
not sure what part you did not understand, let me clarify....when he was impeached, he was still president....constitution requires he goes to trial by the senate....he does not get a 'GET OUT JAIL/CONSEQUENCES" free card because he is in the last weeks of his term. the trial was legitHe was in office when the trial started? REALLY? Anyone else know that?

McConnell delayed the trial, keeping the trump donor and voter base happy.the part where it says impeachment is for President, Vice President, or civil officer.....Trump was none of those at the time of the trial.
Republicans let trump go. Happy? So when you said Trump was just going to be let go......he would have been let go REGARDLESS of the verdict, right?

trump was potus when he was impeached. trump was still lying about voter fraud when he amped up his rioters.the part where it says impeachment is for President, Vice President, or civil officer.....Trump was none of those at the time of the trial.

The charges will move forward to criminal prosecution - Even though I think the Republican Senators who voted to Acquit are Pieces of Shit!!! This is criminal, and people died, and the sanctuary of the U.S. Capital was invaded by Terrorist Insurrectionist at the directions of Trump, Giuliani and Trump Jr. and the Other Asshole that was on the stage and the many others with their megaphone. The prosecution should go forward and the penalties must be high!!! America's Dignity and American Justice is at stake of World Ridicule if it does not.“
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Saturday unleashed blistering criticism of former President Trump, blaming him for sparking the attack on the Capitol while also explaining why he didn't vote for a conviction.
McConnell also suggested that Trump could face criminal prosecution for his actions.
"There's no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day. No question about it. The people that stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their president," McConnell said.”

i guess Mitch is not worried about Trump running in 2024. Too bad he did not have the courage to stand by his conviction. The Republican Party has been damaged severely an once again Trump made this country look like a failing and foolish empire with the help of the republican party
