(CNN)Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday he would "absolutely" support former President Donald Trump if he became the GOP presidential nominee in 2024, a notable commitment following his recent blistering critiques of the former President.
While McConnell maintained that the 2024 presidential election cycle would be a "wide-open race," when pressed by Fox News' Bret Baier about supporting Trump if he captured the Republican nomination, McConnell offered, "The nominee of the party? Absolutely."

The Kentucky Republican's comments come just weeks after he delivered a pointed rebuke of Trump on the Senate floor for fomenting the deadly US Capitol insurrection. Though McConnell voted to acquit Trump anyway, he called the former President's actions that preceded the riot "a disgraceful, disgraceful dereliction of duty."

Wow that was quick......
We need to end the filibuster. The lines have been drawn and with the one term mistake still in charge of the GOP it means war. He knows nothing else.

With McConnell, he'll change his pledge on a spin of a dime. Right now, he's catering to the huge numbers of Trump Loyalists. If the politcal wind blows different in 3 years, he'll change his mind.

Meanwhile Mr. One and done is declaring war this weekend in Orlando. Make no mistake he does not want peace.

Democrats sure got played by McConnell; again. His absolute support for Trump was a minor part of his 12:30 interview with Baier.

Mitch played the hypocrisy card with Tanden’s tweets, spun away against the $1.9 T Covid bill, and bragged about GOP wins on 11/3.

Just more political calculating by McConnell. He's just covering his ass with Trump's base which unfortunately appears to currently have something of a stranglehold on GOP politics by feigning support, while at same time fully expecting that Trump's legal problems are shortly going to be catching up with him and the sum total effect of that will eventually render any of Trump's personal future political ambitions moot. He doesn't look like a weasel for nothing, you know.

Life must be easy having no guiding principles.

Actually, I think Mitch was just saying he'd support whoever is nominated. The discussion was about a number of people he knows plan to run. I'd betcha, though, he'll be pulling every string he can to be sure T**** isn't nominated. We all know this a contest between McConnell and T****.

He said: “if” he was the nominee... he won’t be and Mitch knows it.
Trump is 74 years old, and has increasing calcium levels in his blood, which indicate heart disease. He had covid (appearently a lot worse that was admitted), and had an emergency trip to Walter Reed (before covid), where apparently the doctors administered a cognitive test , which they would do if someone had a TIA. Unless Trump listens to his doctors better, he is likely to be in worse physical shape than he is in now.

McConnell and Biden are pretty much canceled in the next few years from age. What they chew Lip mouth is just crap. What is important is how the USA goes forward with cool! This constant Political crap is just that. What is important is 40 years from now the population will double ! Going forward progressively is a wise choice, not Trump'y hate, Demo's hate crap. Thas all B.S. All this Conspiracy crap is just that, a really bad Newspaper Editorial page. Political Comedians make $10 million dollars a year satisfying Add's and keep watcher % but it doesn't change the fact that every one them is a ****en tongue in cheek piece of Crap lier ! It doesn't matter if it is Concervative or Liberal. It is what they rode in on. It they ride the pony the pony needs Hay and water or it gets pissed ! Have Never got a piece of Literature from a Political candidate that wasn't mostly a complete lie. Have Never met a Lawyer that if you put $175-$750 an hour down in advance that wasn't a complete liar !

It rubs the lotion on the skin, it does it whenever it is told.

Leftists will riot and hate any Republican nominee and likely start impeachment proceedings the first day he or she is elected to office.

They were no different when 43 was elected, and Bush Derangement Syndrome, later to become the Trump Derangement Syndrome, was first coined. Leftists want a one party system, having absorbed CCP and other Communist propaganda, and are making progress toward that goal. Their hatred of democracy is reflected in everything they post.

McConnell molests otters.

I keep saying it. Y'all really need to heed my words: Don't listen to what they say...look at what they do.

You act like it is good news when it really spells death to the GOP. They will fail again and again.

Yes he hasn't lasted all these years by not covering all his bases. The funny thing is that he is welcomed back into the fold after the vitriol he threw at the one term mistake not more than 2 weeks ago.

Term. Limits.

12 years is long enough for useless people to suck at the teet of the government.

Yep......

And this has what, exactly, to do with McConnell?

Never mind...you are dismissed.

What makes you think McConnell is "welcomed back into the fold"?

The third grade teacher was teaching English and repeated for her class... "Mary had a little lamb, whose fleece was white as snow/And everywhere that Mary went, the lamb was sure to go." She explained that this was an example of poetry, but could be changed to prose by changing the last line from "the lamb was sure to go" to "the lamb went with her." A few days later she asked for an example of poetry or prose. Little Johnny raised his hand and recited, "Mary had a little pig, an ornery little runt/He stuck his nose in Mary's clothes, and smelled her little--" He stopped and asked the teacher if she wanted poetry or prose. "Prose..." the teacher said weakly. So Little Johnny said, "Asshole."

Yep Trumpet is a total lying Asshole along with hiw southern Repub's U know why he went south, is cause he can never live in N.Y. again Yep a total POC lying SOBs://www.ba-bamail.com/jokes/rude-jokes/?jokeid=1380

In a somewhat less naughty vein:

Mary had a little lamb.
His foot was black as soot.
And everywhere that Mary went,
His sooty foot he put.

Regards, stay safe 'n well.

Yeah, this doesn't really surprise me, especially as a guest on Fox News. I don't doubt he would support Trump because he a Republican politician who wants peace in the party, and I also don't doubt he thinks Trump belongs in prison because he's not an idiot.
