GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, for the first time in over 35 days, will allow a GOP formulated finding bill to come to the floor of the Senate for a vote.

This is nothing less than a shameful partisan ploy by McConnell. He already knows this funding bill won't pass because it contains $5.7 billion for Trumps vanity border wall.

This will never garner the required 60 Senate votes. This is a stunt by McConnell, who cares more about political theater than in honest negotiations with Democrats.

The House has already passed the required legislation to reopen the federal government, but McConnell will not allow a Senate vote on the House funding bills.

Its nice that Donald gave Mitch the Turtle the pat on the back of the shell to go ahead and try to fulfill at least part of his constitutional responsibilities.

So, if the House won't fund Trump's wall, and the Senate won't fund Trump's wall with this silly vote, then isn't it time for Trump to get the effing message and put the government back to work?

Pelosi told him he didn't have the votes.

This is Trump/McConnell still saying -- Vote yes and give us the $5.7 billion for the wall or we'll keep government closed.

McConnell is nothing if not a consummate partisan. Party and power over literally anything else. Even his ideology and beliefs. I’m frankly amazed he hasn’t opted to nuke the legislative filibuster for Trump at this point.

Democrats should continue to hold their ground. If they give in on this issue, it will simply give Trump the green light to hold government and its employees hostage on every other inane campaign promise he made, no matter how small it may be, as a means to keep his base beholden to him in hopes of winning re-election. Which is his only hope of delaying the legal jeopardy he faces for the crimes we know he has already committed.

Any effort to ramrod a Bill through the Senate that includes new Appropriations that have not gone through the rigors of an Appropriations process is DOA. I cannot tell if McConnell is actually going to try to pick off the Seven Dem Senators he would need one at a time to get this though or if he is just going to throw this dead carcass of a Bill out on the floor to get it over with so he can go back to Trump and ask "now what DonDon". The adds I know about so far are $12+B in Disaster Relief, though I do not know at this point if this is New Disaster Relief (Appropriations Process again) or continuing Disaster Relief which would be CR material and continuing funding in the form of an extension on a bill that protects women from violence.

Not sure if McConnell has other goodies he will try to heap onto those two. Seven is a big number of Senators to pick off one by one.

Probably worth noting that if McConnell adds nothing more than that onto Trump's proposal it is nothing more than a Bill to get Trump's proposal out of the way and go back to Donald and ask him what he wants to do next. If McConnell does try to add all sorts of other unrelated stuff to the Bill then its more likely a genuine effort, likely futile, to pick off seven Dem Senators, one at a time.

The CAM (Central American Minor) amnesty restrictions alone are a poison pill in the legislation that will ensure McConnell won’t be able to pick off 7 Democrats. Likely no Democrats will support this because of the CAM provisions.

Maybe McConnell thinks most americans are as gullible as the base of the GOP?
