Or had the ability to tax people to pay for common resources like roads, dams, and schools.

Tax people?

With every succeeding day, the roll played by Taxation in governmental fiscal responsibility is vanishing.

There seems to be almost no relationship between taxes and spending.

I'm not at all sure why we are taxed at all anymore.

It is becoming more and more apparent, as they raise taxes on the lower classes and lower them on the wealthier classes, that the role of taxation now ( at least within the GOP) is to keep the poor people poor and the rich people rich.

And it seems to have been going away for probably the last 20 years. We have moved away from lowering taxes for everybody to just lowering taxes for the rich.

No help. I posted about the stupidity of government.

How you leapt from there to the ideas you posted is a mystery.
I'm saying Government isn't really that stupid, you just choose to see it that way.

I always twist everything to be about the Bush and Trump tax cuts.

My Income Tax dropped by 20% due entirely to the Trump Tax Cuts.

What is the point of income at which you define a person to be "rich"?

Was is it permanent?

“Rich” is relative, but someone or something earning 500,000 a year right now is what I would consider “rich” I will consider middle class to be any household earning 100,000 to 500,000. Below 100,00 you are part of the working class.

Well, the second comment explains the response.

By YOUR DEFINITION, then, I was WORKING CLASS.

You claimed that the Trump Tax Cut was for those that are RICH.

As a member of the Working Class, incidentally far from the top end, I enjoyed a 20% tax cut.

Is there any chance that actual fact from the real world will pierce your walls of misinformation?

I take the long view because my time horizon must be longer. The Trump tax cuts overall raised taxes for you and me. We just haven’t gotten to the year where the law raises your taxes.

But is there. My taxes went down too... for a few years.

The corporate tax cuts were permanent; ours were not, and actually had to increase to offset the lower taxes elsewhere.

35 percent of households earn more than 100,000 a year.
10 percent of households earn more than $200,000 a year.
4 percent of households earn more than $300,000 a year.
2 percent of households earn more than $400,000 a year.
Fewer than 1 percent of households earn more than $532,000 a year.

If we arbitrarily define "middle class" as the middle half of the population - above 25% and below 75% - then their income range is approximately $34,000 to $124,000.

Oh!

You are referring to the sun set put on the tax cuts BY THE DEMOCRAT-SOCIALISTS.

I agree that the sun set of the Trump tax cuts was both stupid and unfair.

Democrat-Socialist are more fiscal responsible than any republican. Okay then. By your own admission.

Although that’s not why. The budget reconciliation procedure they used means these have to be “theoretically” budget neutral, so the Republicans decided that you and I could **** right off and made ours temporary and then increased them to make the corporate tax cuts permanent.

Maxed Out:

We're going to be paying over half a trillion dollars in Debt per year.

If it goes any higher, we won't be able to pay it back with even a trillion dollars a year.

So pay for your infrastructure and then balance that budget.

Are we presently rolling the half a trillion?

Nobody is going to do anything

What is that? Stimulus number 5?

Debt isn't the problem, it's how the money is spent, and who, in the end reaps the benefit.

We will have to Crash and Burn and rebuild out of the ashes
