The idea is to get as many people as possible to wear them responsibly. The criteria of 100% compliance or something is a failure is not a serious barometer we use for virtually any mandate or law.

Maybe if Republicans hadn’t turned this into a political issue, we wouldn’t even need mandate’s. People would do this because they’re patriots and it’s the right thing to do.

I meet with people everyday who don’t wear masks except in a store or some place that requires it. It’s spreading between families that somehow think they don’t have to wear masks around people they know.

It's possible that the virus is surging in spite of masks, not because of them. It's possible that the virus is surging at a lesser rate than if nobody wore masks. And it's possible that the virus is surging because too many people still refuse to see them as having any value.

There are actually very few who don't wear some type of masks, hence this thread. It is masked people, not unmasked people, who are spreading the virus because most everyone actually has masks. Just look at LA. They are having over 40,000 new cases, day after day after day. This is not a bastion of MAGA red hatters. This is people wearing masks.

I'm not sure what to or not to read into this.

The guidance isn't aimed specifically at people who are intending to pretend compliance, but people who think they are complying and doing so but without wearing the kind of mask required to be effective (or maximally effective).

It's an issue of supply chain problems mixing with the twitter age. By the latter, I mean the seeming inclination of most people to quarter-research then half-ass whatever they're doing; understanding at a superficial level.

Then there are the idiots that perhaps you cannot help. These are the people who cover their mouth but not their nose.
