I support this ruling. Gerrymandering needs to be done away with regardless of which side is doing it.
The problem is analogous to one side of a war using banned weapons, while the other side refuses to violate the rules. The honorable side is the loser.

Likewise, if Democrats don't gerrymander in response to blatant gerrymandering by Republicans, we end up with a Congress in which more Republicans win seats, even though more voters voted for Democrats.

Given that the SCOTUS is biased towards Republicans, and don't intervene against Republican efforts to tip the scales, we end up with one-party rule and not a democracy.
