This just makes me not appreciate Mike Moore anymore then I have, and I suppose the entire far left that support him. He took the job that this man did, and made it look slimey, like something that should not be done. He acted as if this young man, would not do whatever he is asking these young men to do, then is killed serving his country!

It's a real shame to read this story, it makes me very sad.:(

Maybe we should put MM and Coulter into a space station and make them both spend the rest of eternity with each other.

That may have been YOUR opinion of what Moore was trying to do, however, to me he was trying to show how recruiters pray on those with lower incomes neighborhoods. Having had several buddies who were recruiters, he is right.

I don't necessarily think that is wrong, unlike how Moore tried to point out, due to the fact I beleive fully that the military is a viable career for people and it does give them many opportunities as well.

I'm not accusing you of this, but it is amusing to me to see people on the right criticizing Moore and then turing right around and giving praise to Ann Coulter. Sorry, they are both idiots and they are on the opposite side of the spectrum.

Well there you go, you can't even help yourself, can you?

The bolded part of your post says it all, you think they are praying on these kids like they are doing something wrong, exactly my point, I'd thank you, but I'm a bit disgusted at the moment.

And we all know that people in lower income neighborhoods don't have the intellectual capacity to realize that they are being preyed upon.

Can we all just agree MM is a dirt bag and move on from there...

I'm a little confused here, especially after reading the article you linked to. Did Michael Moore actually travel to Iraq and plant the bomb that killed him? If not, exactly why are you outraged?

Because he has to direct his anger at another fine young Marine's death somewhere.

That's absurd and insulting. Their problem isn't that they don't have intellect it's that they don't have money. A career in the military can be an opportunity for someone who lives in a dead end town with no money for college. To assume they are "stupid" and that's why they sign up for the military is crude and ridiculous. It also undermines the sacrifice they are making for our country because it assumes that they were too dumb to understand the risks that went along with the opportunity. I find your statement more offensive than anything in Moore's movie.

I believe taxed was being sarcastic there...LOL

Well thank goodness! If that's true...my bad. Sorry taxedout. :rofl

Personally, I think its disgusting and slimey that right-wingers on this board have taken this young man's death and are using it to make political statements against Moore. It is extremely hypocritical of you to claim that Moore is a sleezebag when you are doing exactly the same thing.

Give this solider the respect that he deserves and stop politicizing his death.
You know, Navy Pride tried to do the same thing recently and was correctly put in his place by people on these boards on all sides of the issues.

Wasn't this a topic of discussion just the other day, with Arnie Coulter b^tching about the 911 widows using their husband's deaths for sympathy in an argument? Why are you using this soldier's death to lash out at Moore?

because he is a hypocrite.

LOL. gotta love the logic.

Ann Coulter turns deaths into politics, and she is crucified by the left.

Michael Moore takes a big fat **** on a marine, and the left crucifies the guy that points it out.

LMAO.

Well spoken. These guys just get skeezier and skeezier. They could give two sh**s about the fallen soldier.

I have no problem with anyone criticizing Michael Moore or anyone for that matter. What I do have a problem with is when people take a personal tragedy and use it as an opportunity to preach their politics....
Whether it be Navy Pride using a dead soldiers letter to rant about the Iraq war, this posters using the soldiers death to rant about Michael Moore, Rev. Phelps and his crew using soldiers deaths to rant about how god hates fags, Coulter saying that widows enjoy having their husbands dead.
It just shows how low people will go to use death or someone's personal tragedy for political grandstanding. To me its disgusting and shows the ugly side of politics in America today.

First

This is what liberals were mainly objecting to.

"I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much."- Coulter

Second

What Coulter is griping about, is that it is 'unfair' for someone to use anothers death in order to gain an advantage/sympathy in an argument. The OP of this thread is doing the same thing that the rightwing's sweetheart says is 'unfair'.

Third

To try to link Moore to this man's unfortunate death is absurd. Moore may be blamed for a lot of things, but this isn't one of them.

And just like you have proven how rabid the right is, you missed the part where I said I don't necessarily agree with Micahel Moore in that it was wrong. Way to twist words around.

But what do you call it when recruiters are TOLD to SPECIFICALLY go to low income neighborhoods to recruit?

Calm2Chaos said:

Definitely.

Obviously, someone was attempting to ascribe "victim" status to recruits.

I'm not a "right-winger" I'm just a concerned American, shame on you for desperately trying to change the subject!

I have two boys in Africa and Iraq, and a daughter and grandgirl in Germany, so check yourself, you have made this political!

LMAO. This from the people that have a pen and pad making a checkmark every time a soldier dies so they can announce it in the press in an attempt to sway public opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem to me isn’t so much army recruiters recruiting in poor/middle class/working class neighborhoods. That is to be expected. What does the military really have to offer someone with money? For poor people the military can be a real opportunity.

However, I do have a problem with promising these recruits the moon and then treating them like **** afterward by arbitrarily extending their tours and taking away R&R and sticking them in jobs for which they were not trained. I also think it was shitty pre-911 for recruiters to use the alleged fact that National Guard troops and the Reserves are rarely deployed in combat. Which is a lie, except for the Vietnam era.

On top of all this, veterans get nothing but grief from the VA.

IMHO, if the current administration will stop using the phrase “support the troops” as a political weapon designed to cull dissent, and instead actually bother to support the troops in some meaningful ways, our soldiers would be a lot better off.

As someone who works for the VA, I think you are sadly mistaken.

If you have a list of complaints, please list them and I will do my best to explain what I can about them. Maybe your complaint is with the VA hospitals I am not sure (in that I will agree we are sub par). I work for the benefits office and I try to do all I can to get veterans their benefits that they are entitled to.
