Mandela was put on the list at the behest of apartheid South Africa in the 70's when any mention of 'commie' got you on the list. Taking apartheid South Africa's word on it does look bad in hindsight.

Though I would ask you if you understand what putting a word in single quotation marks means- yes? Nothing in his governance seems to indicate he believes in the commune or socialist way. no forced relocation, no seizing of the white man's wealth, no mass trials and executions of white leaders. One of his greatest failures according to many of his supporters was allowing so much of the wealth remaining in white hands- many saw that wealth as ill-gotten loot from apartheid laws favoring white wealth accumulation.

Never said murder isn't going on, just that rumors of a massive wave of killin' whites isn't likely and using A MURDER, rather than stats to back a rise in white victim murders OR interviews with black gang leaders pledging to kill all the whites is piss poor reporting.

1998, Jasper Texas, USofA, James Byrd, jr. Three white men, two avowed white supremacists, drug Byrd to death leaving what was left of his body in front of a black cemetery. He was alive until he hit a culvert severing his right arm and head from his body. he was drug 3 miles before dying. His body pieces found in 81 places along the way. he had been beaten and pissed on by the men before being chained by his ankles to the bumper of a pick-up truck.

One of the men had a tattoo of a black man hanging from a tree, 'Aryan Pride' and the patch for a white supremacist prison gang- Confederate Knights of America. he wrote a letter expressing pride in the murder and referenced the 'Turner Diaries'.

After the murder all three white men attended a BBQ.

I could use this horrible murder and how open these men were about their hatred of black folks to imply white Texans are ready to launch a 'final solution' to the race problem before whites are outnumbered and the out of control government takes away the means to do so...

Everyone has the right to free speech..white people may have something to say..and I am not agreeing with this man's horrible death..

In England we recently had a horrible murder of a soldier carried out by fundamental Muslims who virtually hacked off his head in broad daylight..

Rep. Howard Berman, D-Calif., chairman of the House International Relations Committee, is pushing a bill that would remove current and former ANC leaders from the watch lists. Supporters hope to get it passed before Mandela's 90th birthday July 18.

"What an indignity," Berman said. "The ANC set an important example: It successfully made the change from armed struggle to peace. We should celebrate the transformation."

In 1990, Mandela was freed after 27 years in prison for crimes committed during the struggle against Apartheid, a repressive regime that subjugated black South Africans. In 1994, he was elected South Africa's first black president.

Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., called ANC members' inclusion on watch lists a "bureaucratic snafu" and pledged to fix the problem.

Members of other groups deemed a terrorist threat, such as Hamas, also are on the watch lists.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff says "common sense" suggests Mandela should be removed. He says the issue "raises a troubling and difficult debate about what groups are considered terrorists and which are not."

When ANC members apply for visas to the USA, they are flagged for questioning and need a waiver to be allowed in the country. In 2002, former ANC chairman Tokyo Sexwale was denied a visa. In 2007, Barbara Masekela, South Africa's ambassador to the United States from 2002 to 2006, was denied a visa to visit her ailing cousin and didn't get a waiver until after the cousin had died, Berman's legislation says.

Funny how national sterotypes sway our view of others, I 'see' brits as facing the Blitz with a stiff upper lip and now you claim you are afraid to walk your streets due to the immigration problem.

Just a few years ago (last was 2010) I made several trips to Liverpool. Stayed in the Holiday Inn across the street from the Lime Street train station. Witherspoons was right around the corner. several ka-bob fast food shops nearby, a mall right next door on the other side. Scoucers of all ages, and looks, (boy howdy some of those looks) walked the streets at damn near any hour. My wife and I walked around day or night with nary a second thought.
