Man with foot up on desk in Pelosi's office at Capitol arrested

That's literally what just happened. Their failure makes the act no less of a coup.

And given the abject cowardice of Republicans and conservatives to call this out as what it is, expect more of this fascistic behavior in the future. These seditious Trump supporters have been emboldened by hacks like Cruz and Howley, who've been doing everything to cheer them on.

What a disgrace.

Here's the perspective:

While confirming Biden's victory, Congress had to be evacuated because Trump supporters tried to physically prevent Congress from confirming the electoral college votes.

That's literally what happened.

And the silliness of the cosplaying Trump supporters does not make what happened any less of a coup. It makes it a clownish coup for sure, a stupid coup, a feckless coup, a FAILED coup, a cringe-worthy coup, but it's still a coup.
He seems to forgotten that People Died.

And as I said, do you think he said anything about why he was going on FB, parler or email?

No idea, IF he did, like I said, he's done.

WASHINGTON — A man photographed casually sitting with his foot on a desk in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office at the U.S. Capitol while a pro-Trump mob rampaged the halls of Congress was arrested Friday, law enforcement officials said.

Richard Barnett, 60, of Gravette, Arkansas, was taken into custody in his home state on charges of entering and remaining on restricted grounds, violent entry and theft of public property, according to a Justice Department official. Further details were not immediately available.

Well he was taken into custody quicker than I thought he'd be. Bye bye redneck dickhead.
Good

Oh you mean regarding the guy who just had Federal charges slapped on him for bringing 11 moltov cocktails along, right?
Uh. No. He's a dangerous criminal that needs to be prosecuted.

The mindless hateful dreck of calling it a coup and castigating anyone that refused to play the asinine partisan game of calling it a coup.

He is throwing himself on his sword. He just got "caught up in the moment". He is soooooooo sorry! I hope they nail his sorry @$$ .

As I have said many times. The vast majority of these extremists are just trolls and their patriotic bravado will melt like butter when they will start facing the real consequences.

Coups were normalized this summer? Do tell.
Coups were normalized beginning in 2017. "High Impact" protests were normalized over the summer.

Coups were normalized beginning in 2017. "High Impact" protests were normalized over the summer.

The attack on the MI state house. The Whitmer kidnapping plan.

First claim is just unsupported nonsense.

High impact protests have been the normal state in the US in the 1960s and led to a better country. If you think that invalidating the elections will lead to a better country, you are dangerous. Go learn some history...

Good, throw the book at him.

Tsk tsk.

Well, that's my point. Even though they would have been unable to take over the government, that was their intent and that's what they tried to do. And even though they failed it's still important we note they tried to do it.

I agree it's crazy talk, and your fellow Trump supporters believe similar things and keep encouraging each other to do similar things. They've been talking about this for weeks on the pro-Trump forums and websites and in pro-Trump media. And Trump himself encouraged them to go to Capitol Hill.

This wasn't just a handful of lunatics, okay? Thousands stormed Capitol Hill. Hundreds of them stormed the halls of Congress. They ransacked the various rooms. People died. Congress had to flee. You're not going to get away with minimizing this. This was a big deal.

Look, the whole of Congress had to flee. They were in the actual chambers of Congress. One of the thugs got shot and killed trying to break in. One of the officers protecting Capitol Hill from the thugs was killed as well. They were there to stop Biden from becoming President. They tried to stop Biden from becoming President. The fact that they failed. The fact that it was a failure doesn't make it any less of a coup.
Nobody "had to" flee. It might have actually been interesting to see what would have happened if one of the rodents occupying congress had the balls to come out and actually address the throng. Maybe if just one of the useless skin bags occupying those hallowed halls decided to take an ounce of responsibility for what they've done to this nation we could have avoided what's on the horizon.

Are you complaining about the Mueller investigation...again? Coups are extra-judicial, extra-legal, extra-constitutional. The President is not above the law. A President can be investigated for suspected crimes and suspected abuses of office. A President can be removed for impeachable offenses. It's written into the Constitution. And the process for holding a President to account was normalized 1787.

Sure, if words just suddenly don't have meaning.

Coup (noun) a sudden, violent, and illegal seizure of power from a government.

An impeachment is not a coup.

Your pals tried to overthrow the US government, and here you are making cheesy excuses. Are you an American or not?

Disagree, they should have never gotten access to the capitol,

Protest, sure.....but never should have entered the capitol.

Whether they should have or shouldn't have doesn't change the fact that they came there with the intent to FORCE access.
Arguing about whether they should or shouldn't have is like saying the nineteen mujahideen should have stuck to practicing takeoffs and landings instead of actually crashing commercial jets into the WTC.

Forget my last question. You've said who and what you are quite clearly.

Goddammit @Heisenberg, you know that only applies to DEMOCRATS!!! [/sarc]

Their goal was to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power from one administration to the next....what word would you like to use to describe it?

Does this fit better for you....

noun

  1. a violent uprising against an authority or government.

This "throng" killed a police officer.

Whether you like it or not, we have rules and laws. You claim to be a conservative, but you don't seem too interested in conserving the rules and laws that have sustained us for so long.

And in a Republic of 320 million citizens you're not always going to get what you want.

we could have avoided what's on the horizon.

I'm sorry, what?

What's on the horizon?

The goal was to create chaos. It was not to seize power.
