Man who plotted to kill and eat children gets more than 26 years - CNN.com

Authorities also found a locked basement, court documents show. Photos taken the day of Portway's arrest show a narrow wooden staircase leading downstairs to a soundproof room in which he planned to imprison children. The room was furnished with a metal cage with a circular hole for feeding, a rusted and worn steel-topped table, as well as multiple kinds of metal bondage equipment. A child-sized coffin made of plywood was found on the floor nearby.
'Cannibal cop' convicted in New York
Also found in the house were handcuffs, rope intended for bondage, mouth gags, and castration tools. A large box of frozen raw chicken, near a handful of disposable scalpels, was photographed by investigators near two industrial-sized freezers.
In the kitchen, a jug of Clorox bleach was seen by the doorway, while a red child-sized 'onesie' lay on the countertop, amid snacks and disposable syringes. A butcher kit containing plastic gloves, an apron, cutting board, bone saw, cleaver, shears, and multiple knives was photographed in the sink.

So this gets a whole 26 years in Massachusetts? Wow.

It was just a plot, not like he actually ate anyone. I wonder if he watched Dexter.

That is one sick puppy!

26 years is a lot for not eating anybody.

Agreed. I mean I would think he'd be put into a high security psychological ward (is there such a thing anymore?) instead of prison, especially since he actually didn't eat any children. I mean, people act out all sorts of illegal things but they're not arrested and jailed for such things. This is very "minority report" without all the cool cop tools.

It's a light sentence given all the child pornography he had and what he was planning.

I suspect more charges are to come. There have been reports that he had pictures of dead children.

Just when we think the depths of depravity have been reached some yahoo decides to find a new bottom. :puke:

Even more disturbing, this guy was part of a group and though they caught up a couple of the rest there's more like him out there. In fact, there's the folks who took the pics of cooked children that thrilled him so still out there doing their thing.

And did anyone look at the links embeded in the article (to similar child porn cases happening now)?

When did pictures become a crime?

A long, long time ago. Certain content has always been a crime. And before you treat us with more pics from a war zone, at least take some time and google around as to why those aren't a crime.

I will say I'm massively disappointed with you, trying to excuse or legitimize this guy's behavior with a cheap political point.

Not like that, like this:]

Properly preparted, I'm sure they are delicious.

I think about some of the inane conversation I had with friends about microwaving babies. We were being silly and not committing a crime. This is just more thought-police tactics.

Operation Mindcrime.

I should have specified, he had pictures of children who were, I suspect, murdered by other pedophiles.

Jesus Keerist guys. This is a debate board. How seriously can you be taking this?

What was my "cheap political point"? I had no idea I had a point. Well, maybe I did, maybe my point was that actions mean much more than words but still...I'm astonished you would "be disappointed" that I'm trying to hold up my end of a conversation about something in which I have no influence of any kind.

IMHO killing children is a crime. So is killing adults. But that photo was right there on the internet so I used it to illustrate my pointless point.
