NYPD officers found a man lying face down with a pistol in his hand and a gunshot wound in his back in the Bronx on Sunday morning, police said.

Police went to 2669 Briggs Avenue around 2:50 a.m. after gunshots triggered a ShotSpotter alert there. They found the man with the firearm in hand, according to cops.

The man, who wasn’t immediately identified, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to his back, cops said.

Only in NYC. He must have been in a gunfight because it's very hard to shoot yourself in the back.

Criminal suspects have been known to do it. The presence of certain police officers can warp spacetime, such that your own bullet can do a 180, pop back in time, do another 180, and then shatter your own spine. Amazing, really.

Then again, it can also happens when someone fails to flee a gunfight.

This is not news. This is the norm in NYC.
You don't stop a knife or gun fight.
