Good, I hope this guy gets the harshest sentence the judge can give out... 25 to life I believe the article says... Life sounds good to me!!! Then I hope he gets a 'boyfriend' or eight in prison, too...

MINEOLA, N.Y. - A jury convicted a man on Tuesday of murder for driving drunk the wrong way on a highway, slamming head-on into a wedding limousine and killing the chauffeur and a 7-year-old flower girl.

Prosecutors said Martin Heidgen, 25, drove his pickup truck more than 2 miles on the Long Island highway before ramming head-on into the limousine in July 2005. They contended Heidgen never tried to stop and turned slightly toward the limousine in the seconds before the crash.>>

That's fantastic (that he was convicted). That story is horrible. I cannot even imagine something like that happening on my wedding day. We need to have stiff charges and penalities for people who drink and drive because situations like this can happen as a result.

This guy is originally from Arkansas, so the news stations here would occasionally give updates on what was going on... I definately heard things they wouldn't/couldn't admit at trial...

Did you read that the mother held her little girl's decapitated head in her hands after the accident? I'm a father of a 6 month old little boy and I just couldn't imagine that... gets me misty just thinking about it actually...

I hadn't read that part, but just now did. OMG, that is awful! 14 drinks--who the hell drinks 14 drinks? I hope he gets his due both via the sentence and within the jail, if you know what I mean.

Amen, sister...

Oh yeah, he will have alot of time for big bubba and bubbas brothers!

Although I agree with all of you that it's an aweful story and he should be punished, why is this a topic on a politics forum?

Don't explain yourself. This message board isn't solely limited to politics. Under the heading of "Breaking News," it states the following:

This forum is for Breaking news within the last 48 hours only. New threads should only deal with news within this timeframe. Please read the rules before posting.

I don't see that it limits the "breaking news" to political topics. Post away, reagan. Really--what was the significance of asking why this should be posted here. If you don't think it's relevant, IGNORE IT. Plain and simple. Sheesh.

Thanks Aps, I haven't had my first cup of coffee this morning yet and I didn't want to get a 'prick point' so I was polite...

Of course, I WAS wondering why it mattered to him...

I was thinking that he would warrant a "prick point." It always looks good to be polite. ;)
