Man Bashing

Men, I can't believe you are insecure about woman taking power..

Men control congress, our presidency has always been filled by men....

99.9% of history is dominated by men......

And look at the porn industry, the woman are used, while the producers and profiteers are men also.

If woman were in power, boys would wear such clothing at are offensive to woman, but that'll never happen. We're too powerful.

Translation: It is ok to trash men, but not women.

Thank you for demonstrating my point.

It has nothing to do with who affected more history or how many representatives people have in Congress. It is about unequality, and the fact that men are just supposed to take stuff no one else would be expected to take.

It is about hypocrisy.

1) I see. So why do you call Barbara Streisand a "vagina-hysterical fanatic" when you're doing exactly the same thing?

2) nor would a "throw rocks at girls" shirt be offensive.

1) You obviously know nothing about her. She is, for example, one of the fanatics trying to force women onto firefighting squads despite their incapability to lift people over their heads to carry them out of a burning building. Some units have already started doing this crap. The standards are lower for women and upper body strength-even though upper body strength is critical for the job.

When pressed about this, she actually defended putting incapable people in such life-saving positions by saying "women can just drag people down the stairs."

To answer your question, THAT is why I called her a vagina-hysterical fanatic. I am not advocating anything like that. All I am doing is pointing out hypocrisy and advocating that people not buy stuff if they wouldn't wear it with blacks, Jews, or women in place of "men."

That is fair. What Streisand is doing is going to kill people and is absurd. That's the difference.

2) I think we both know feminist groups would be all over that-and we would give them zero flack for it....because of the double standard I am talking about.

Two times on this site I have questioned what you said and provided you exact quotes of you saying it, and you responded by backpeddling and changing your story.

Your credibility is a bit tainted since then. I used the word, "if" because I generally don't want to take people's word for it, especially if there is a history of discrepencies, as there is with you.

And you think my post is oversensitive? Jesus, take some Midol.

Consider the extensive smear campaigns, the nasty, dishonest attack ads, the boycotts, the lawsuits against Walmart for not helping women have abortions. They weren't preventing women from having abortions, just not participating in it themselves, and look at all the BS they've had to endure.

If a proposal came about to triple only women's health insurance costs due to the fact that women make up such a bigger part of insurance companies' expenses, it would be laughed out of town because of the insane reactions that would be sure to follow from our insanely oversensitive feminist lobby.

But when men are denied all religious and parental rights in deciding whether or not their baby will be killed; when men face 10 to 1 odds of getting custody of kids in a divorce just because our biased system gives such a huge automatic bonus to the mother...just for being the mother; when any inequity happens to men, no one hesitates-because there is not this insanely oversensitive male movement to contend with like women have with feminists.

I am not suggesting that men lose all sensibility and go over the cliff like women have with feminism, just that they draw a line and stop being a punching bag for bigots and feminists-so that the next time men are being stripped of another right to appease a minority, maybe the company or government body who is doing it will think twice about the MERITS of the decision for a change.

Excuse me? I did not change my "story" a bit. Hmmm....my original post...

I find it funny that people want to make a big deal out of these shirts and such, and yet no one says a word about the following shirts that can be found in any Spencer's across America:

Looks quite the same to me. Even without a link in the original post, if you doubted me so much, it wouldn't have been that hard to look up on your own.

But, whatever. Quite honestly, I don't care what you think about me OR my credibility, as most everyone else around here doesn't have a problem with ascertaining what I say.

And "take some Midol"? Oh yeah, that's not sexist at all.

It is only ok to trash whites, men, and conservatives.

This is close, but not on target. It is OK only to bash white male heterosexuals. I emphasize white AND male. Review in your mind (or watch) the movies, TV advertisements, TV shows, etc for the last few years. It's an anti-white male jihad. It's definitely not just men, it's white men. And those T-shirts are stupid and offensive - only an asshole would wear one.

Actually, that's exactly what you're suggesting. You're outraged by T-shirts that are only intended to be funny. And the humor of these doesn't even come from your perception that they're "man-bashing." They're just funny because they draw distinctions between the genders in a flirtatious, yet childish way.

Think of Jesse Jackson complaining that Black History Month is the shortest month, or think of feminists insisting that people spell women "womyn", or think of evangelicals claiming that there is an ongoing "war on Christmas." I'm hard-pressed to find a distinction between these irrational looking-to-be-offended hysterics, and what you're doing here on this thread.

Amen.

Did you know that the movie Sum of all fears was originally about an Arab group of terrorists, but because of BS PC pressure, they changed it to white supremicists?

If you are claiming that the slogans would be interpreted as, "just funny" if they were about any of those other groups in the intro, then you either have no clue what this society is like or you are full of crap.

Show me where I ever said these people need to be thrown in jail or anything extreme. All I want is to highlight hypocrisy. If you can't see the hypocrisy in this then I'm sorry you aren't straight forward enough to have an honest conversation about this.

But see, it's NOT about any of those other groups. It's about gender. It's odd that you render the charge that I "have no clue what this society is like" when you're pretending that society should, and does, view generalizations about gender the same as it views generalizations about race. It doesn't, they aren't the same thing, and you shouldn't pretend that they are.

A girl that wears a "Throw rocks at boys" shirt is just being flirty, not a man-hating lesbo.

Yeah, I noted that, and I didn't know whether to laugh or puke! To keep from offending any of the many PC protected groups, they have to dig back 60 years and come up with neo-nazis! ;)

 So ironically true.

Awww, those poor, able-bodied middle-class WASP men, living lives almost totally free from discrimination and prejudice - they want to be hated too! Even if it only comes from jokes and t-shirt slogans. You want to be able to play your own race/gender/whatever card, too!

I'm female, Jewish and have a mental disorder, but you don't see me all paranoid about what people think of me. Appreciate what you have without seeking persecution, you ingrateful schmucks. You in particular, alphamale - every topic of yours seems to be the same "Woe is me! Everyone hates me because I'm a white dude!" crap. No, we don't, and you're behaving as badly as any other fool who cries an -ism where there isn't one.

I once saw an amusing t-shirt with a silhouette of a stripper on it that said "I support single moms". You'd laugh in the face of any women kicking a fuss about that shirt being sexist - yet, you're being just as lame.

If blacks got upset over this shirt:

"Blacks are stupid throw rocks at them."

and someone told them to chill out, and that it was just meant to be funny, no one would buy that-including you.

There is nothing wrong with pointing out this hypocrisy.

-I've been laid off to make room for race quotas.

-I went to school with blacks who had tuition, books, and board FREE while getting Cs and Ds-just because they were black.

-Sole custody is ten times harder for a man to get just because he is a man.

White males are the MOST discriminated against group. Wake up and look around sometime.

You are so right! There is nothing sexist about these t-shirts. Men and women are inherently different. Those differences have always been the subject of ridicule, on both sides. When the feminist movement began, those women were not protesting against t-shirts, they were protesting against absurd laws that refused to acknowledge that women were on the same level as men. When you have something to moan about, when you have a real cause to fight for, perhaps then people will take your complaints seriously. But as it is, you don’t.

So if there was a T-shirt brought out that said 'women are better parents than men' then perhaps you'd have a point. There is a group that fights long and hard for equal rights for fathers, and a large proportion of their supporters are women. If a cause is worthy, then sex shouldn't come into it.

I have got one of these t-shirts that I got as a present that say's 'boys are smelly'. They are aimed a young girls who are being bought up in a world that generally tells them that women are inferior to men. I think in order to ensure equality, and the same is true for any minority group, the discrimination has to go full circle, before it will ever be level. I suppose now it's just the white males turn.

While taking no position on the argument itself, I yet have to ask one question.

You think the answer to discrimination is not to denounce the practice, but rather to passively legitimize the practice by redirecting to the former perpetrators?

This begs the question, are men as a gender discriminatory, or just particular men? If the latter, do you suppose it's rational to impugn all men of today for the crimes of a few men in the past?

I totally agree...do you honestly believe that equallity can be found through discrimination?

That's because such a shirt is NOT meant to be funny. You keep ignoring this obvious distinction.

No. I don't think that's the answer. I just believe that that is what happens. Women are dominated by men for years, there is a massive women's movement, and it suddenly becomes 'acceptable' for women to ridicule men, based on that previous domination. I think in order for there to be equality, the pendulum has to swing to either side, before it can settle in the middle. I certainly don't agree with discriminatory behaviour towards men in general based on the actions of particular men.

Oh I love em. A friend of mine lines his blog with Happy Bunny pictures. Some are downright nasty, but then again, when haven't we had some pretty nasty thoughts about things or people? Happy Bunny only says what we're thinking. :)
