In early 2015, the war in northern Mali came to an end. The war started in 2012 when Tuerangs sought independence. Islamists exploited the situation and took a few cities (including Timbuktu). In January 2013, french troops were deployed to the country to stabilize the country. In February 20 2015, a ceasefire was signed and both sides made peace. All that's left to do is to curb corruption and set up the local levels to provide services.
