I heard something on the news today about a non-hormonal implant or patch that supposedly could supress the development of live sperm.

What do y'all think about that?

Although I am against BC on religious/moral grounds--I cannot see a problem with male BC as I do with female BC. My issue with the pill/hormonal BC for women is that it sometimes works by inhibiting implantation of the conceived human. I think that is an early abortion and I am against causing the death of humans even if we never know it actually happened. I think life is sacred and meaningful at all stages. If the sperm never gets to the egg, that can't happen.

I wonder what some of the side effects are? Do you have a link by chance?

I only heard it on the news...but I could look around...the report said the rats (I assume rodents--not scuzzy men:mrgreen: ) had no side effects.

And to mikhail--do you mean messing with your fertility somehow diminishes your sexual identity? Geez...I've used that argument to oppose women using BC and WOW did I get a load of crapola. I know it was a joke, but why would it be funny unless there is at least a smidgen of truth in it. Just a thought.

I found this link on this new idea.
Let me know if it's just me guys, but when I read it I got this unpleasant, tingly feeling (you know where).

With some side effects including:

mood swings
aggressiveness
lack of libido
acne
weight gain
lowered high density lipoprotein (HDL, the good cholesterol) levels
impotence
long-term infertility

I dont think I will be using it anytime soon. Let them work out the kinks, then maybe.

Oh, please. Go look up the side effects of the female birth control pill.

If I were in a position to father children, I would use this in a heartbeat, and I would dance all the way home from the doctor's office.

Absolutely--WAY scarier side effects for the women--and yet....so many so willing to risk it so they can make their man happy and/or get their own jollies without responsibility for their natural fertility....what is the subtle message here? Why are we women so....desperate? And how do you suppose such attitudes subtly influence women's roles in society?

I don't think many men would take on the responsibility of this sort of health issue, I mean, not only does it require forethought and a modicum of self-sacrifice (sorry guys--typically female qualities that are present but less marked in men when it comes to the horizontal boogie IMHO), but men don't have to physically carry a child (or as the supporters of abortion would have it) or get the abortion themselves if they let the prescription slide.

Now there's a thought....birth control pills used to prevent pregnancy from unmarried sex are a form of self abuse due to their side fects. The sex isn't necessary so neither are the pills.

STDs, unwanted pregnancies, abortions, pill side fects......all these can be avoided by exercising a little self control.

The promiscuous life appears to be the unhealthy life for both men and women.

Yeah...that's what I'm saying and more--the fact that women are willing accomplices in their own degridation (subtle though it be--yet quite far-reaching) is highlighted by what I lieve would prove to be the men's reservations to be the drug-takers (despite CS's willingness).

Jerry--I can't tell whether you agree or disagree--sorta seems both from what you say but i may be misreading.

What about those guys that just want to have fun now...but may want babies later? Reversals are costly and more pain and not always effective.

Thats why they make Condoms.....I just dont like the Idea of screwing with human hormones, we already have enough problems. Thus I would NEVER expect my wife to take the pill, nor submit to invasive surgery. It was My choice, and a good one, based on my need for sexual gratification on a regular basis, and she a Nymph.

That's the route we took.

Well...you know those aren't exactly aesthetic, nor extraodinarily effective.

According to the side effects, impotence, lack of libido, this drug would facillitate abstinence. You'd still be in no position.

Yeah...but those ladies can still put out even if their libido is lacking...so...(just not nice to us females--man, don't we feel loved!)

You're not gonna get much action out of a man who'd rather watch bowling for dollars and has a Mr. limpy.

wikipedia has a good article on different forms of male contraception that are currently being researched.

the intra vas device is the one I find most interesting. it would be fully reversal, non hormonal, and I'm guessing long lasting.

"NEW: Vasclip - Less Invasive Alternative to Vasectomy

The Vasclip is a new medical device that provides a less invasive alternative to vasectomy. About the size of a grain of rice, this implantable device with a small, locking clip, is placed on each of the patient's two vas deferens by a physician.

While the patient is under a local anesthetic, the Vasclip is implanted and locked around each vas deferens, closing the vas deferens on itself, stopping the flow of sperm. The physician does not need to cut or cauterize the vas deferens, as is done with a traditional vasectomy.

Post procedure pain, swelling, and infection are significantly reduced when the vasectomy procedure is done with the Vasclip device. Recovery time is also reduced. "

What say you, people?

I say it's your body.

Do you say that regardless of the gender of the person you happen to be talking to?

I say it to all females who believe that it is their body, and nobody has a say over who is growing inside their body.
