Major League Baseball 2021

Expanding playoffs isn't a big deal for me, but wanted the NL DH to stay. Understand the purist POV but prefer a professional hitter in the lineup.

Maybe it's just a negotiation ploy by the players union. Negotiations on a new labor agreement are going to be brutal.

I read a couple more articles, listing all the crap this guy said over the years...so, I have to agree. He's quite a Turd.

Curt Schilling abilities on the mound dwarf more than half the pitchers already in the Hall of Fame.
You must be a Yankee fan because he thwarted their plans in 2001 with Arizona & 2004 with the
Redsox. 11-2 in post season play, who has done better than that? One of 4 pitchers to have over 300
strikeout in a season 3 or more times, Nolan Ryan. Randy Johnson, Sandy Koufax & Curt Schilling.
The first three are baseball royalty Schilling should join them in the Hall!

Someone like Curt needs to be deleted from our society. He's among the worst of the worst.

Schilling's comments are no more offensive to as many people (although to an entirely different group), as say Robert De Niro. That they are both outrageous partisan bomb-throwers who enjoy trolling the opposing side publicly. People who think De Niro is some kind of a villain for his remarks - and there's plenty out there who do - have no business using that against De Niro in an Oscar competition or a ranking of great actors. That's exactly what's going on with Schilling.

It's far more disgusting that people can't stick to the job at hand - identifying great ballplayers so they can be honored as ballplayers - than it would be for people who are good at their jobs, but not "nice" people, to be honored for excellence in the workplace. If some can't separate their emotions from their role as voters, they should hand over their ballots and remove themselves from the process.

Schilling has the credentials to waltz into the Hall of Fame

Once again the Cardinals do not do shit and expect the fans to keep showing up anyhow based on "history" That well will run dry soon.

And just like that the Cardinals get Nolan! WOW!

The Cardinals just won that division. The Cubs are in retreat. The Reds after a promising year are looking to trade everyone.
We'll see how Nolan does without 81 games at Coors. Little reason to pitch to Trevor Story now.

His numbers away from Coors are pedestrian and he is getting older. Still a great fielder but he is owed 199 million.

Gets $50 million in cash
Keep their top prospect

Cardinals had the 4th ranked defense last year and now they add Nolan?

Nolan could thrive in St. Louis with a winning culture. Just look at DJ LeMahieu.

Agree, Nolan improves the Cardinals but not sure how much. The money seems crazy but MLB teams are flush with cash with a new tv contract. Give credit to the Cardinals, some teams are happy being mediocre.

Nolan was unhappy and now goes to a franchise who's willing to spend trying to win a championship. Will have to see how the investment pays off for the Cards.

Happy for Nolan, he deserves a chance to get to the WS.

That blew me away! We have been hearing rumors but there area always lots of rumors.

Needless to say we are very excited in Cardinal land.

And so far none of the names I have heard as the return to the Rockies has been anyone that I hate to lose.

He is 29. Players at Coors have a drop off on the road. Nolan's road stats are no more indicative of his performance than his Coors stats, but the overall stats you generally can count on. In fact, when teams come into Coors, they typically have a 3 day drop off in BA when they leave. The ROX paid $50M of the $199M.

The Cardinals made a helluva deal. Arenado, if not the best 3rd baseman in the history of the game, is surely among the top five.

and so far the "biggest" name I have seen going to the ROX is Austin Gomber, who is a very good left handed pitcher but still

It was a salary dump..... and the ROX still paid the Cardinals a almost two years of his salary.

The Rockies ownership is pathetic. They are minor league owners trying to play in the majors. Their lack of talent is obvious. Case in point, their GM is homegrown (never previously having a position in baseball). It would be one thing of the ROX had a long tradition of winning, but grooming your own GM from a management team that has generally only known losing.....well, its not the way to get better.

He will be 30 in April. Since 2016, Arenado is batting just .269 with a .827 OPS on the road. Should be interesting.

His road stats are not comparable to another guy's road stats. Certainly his Rockies home stats will not translate to St. Louis, nor will his road stats translate to what you can expect wearing a Cardinal uniform. The Coors effect is a distortion of home AND away stats, so focusing on his away stats is no more meaningful than his home stats. He will be a 30-35HR guy that hits .280-.285. He is Brooks Robinson with a bat.

The Reds traded Frank Robinson in 1966 because they thought he was too old at 30. He won the triple crown for Baltimore and then had several more very productive years. Arenado generally stays in the lineup. I do not remember any real DL he has incurred in his eight years in Denver.

LA and SD are the big dogs in NL West. ROX will always have issues with splits for hitters and pitchers. Rockies pretty much have to homegrow pitching.

For fantasy baseball players sitting your SP at Coors Field is usually no brainer.

Former Orioles pitcher Scott Erickson has been charged with reckless driving in connection to a hit-and-run in Southern California that killed two boys last year.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office said Erickson, 52, was charged Wednesday with one misdemeanor count of reckless driving.

Investigators told KABC-TV he was racing with Rebecca Grossman on Sept. 29, moments before she struck and killed 11-year-old Mark Iskander and his 8-year-old brother Jacob as they crossed the street in Westlake Village, a suburb 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

The boys were crossing the street in a marked crosswalk with their parents.

Prosecutors alleged that Grossman continued driving, eventually stopping about a quarter-mile from the crash scene.

Completely reckless by Erickson and Grossman.
