Major Garrett: Fox "wants to keep" the "polarization of American media"

Interesting how neither they nor you have much to say on what Garret said re: the firing of Juan Williams . . .

Nor that he also said NPR wants to keep said polarization.

What's so interesting? I sounds to me, it's the best thing that happened to him, he got a huge contract from Fox. That's good - can now say whatever he likes.

FWIW, I don't believe he said anything racial and I don't believe he is a racist. I think NPR had a problem with him being on Fox so they fired him. That was their decision and I am neither for nor against that decision.

You quote Media Matters saying FoxNews wants to keep polarizing American media? Do you not see the hypocrisy in that? What does a non-polarized media look like?

I think from a business perspective its better to have a polarized media, and this goes for groups like MSNBC as well as Fox News. After all which is easier, to spoon feed your viewers a message they already agree with thus letting them sit there and feed on their own smugness in a form of mental self-pleasure I can only describe as mental masturbation. Or, compete through quality of journalism?

Hurst made a fortune practicing yellow journalism. Murdoch learned well from a Democrat.

I can tell you never clicked on the link. The quote was from former Fox News White House correspondent Major Garrett.

And Media Matters still doesn't see the hypocrisy of using a quote from a former employee of Fox to state that Fox wants to polarize American media? The whole goal of Media Matters is to attack conservative media... Is that not wanting to polarize the media towards the left?

And yet neither they nor Pete seem to want to acknowledge that he said the same thing about NPR.

Not that I care about "polarization" in the first place.

Saying that neither Fox or NPR want to solve the polarization of American media, doesn't seem like much or a story to me at all. I thought the Juan Williams remarks were much more interesting.

Tell me something pbrauer... Why did you post this? I mean, explain exactly what in your mind, makes this a big deal? He didn't say that Fox News or NPR were polarizing America, he just said that both seem content in polarizing each other. If you listen to him further, he explains why in Fox's case, it's a good marketing strategy, which I happen to agree with.

Major Garrett worked for the Fox News Channel, he knows the operation and the culture there. His comment about NPR is not crediable and I don't see why anyone would question him about it. That would be a poor use of the TV time. If he said NPR was boring RADIO I could agree with that, but polarize? No way Jose. On the other hand, the Fox News Channel runs a 24/7 political operation that promotes Republican/conservative candidates that has some news associated with it.

In other words, you believe him when he says things you want to hear, and otherwise, he's off his nut.

I said he has credibility when he speaks about the FNC, none when it he spoke about NPR. I said nothing about believing him: "I report, you decide"

Yes, that's what I paraphrased, only more accurately.

I'm sure you'd be singing the same tune if he had said NPR wasn't interested in polarization. No, in that case, he'd be an expert on the media in general.

Hmm... I'm gathering no one is giving pbrauer much credibility on accuracy, or unbiased analysis of media comment. I wonder why... ?

Get a life, you are projecting and whining. Boo Hoo.

Baiting other posters is agin' the rules, dude. Why not just use facts instead of inciting others to get mad at your flame bait?

Yep. Mine was a thoughtful observation complete with a question rather than a crude "boo hoo". But don't you think polarization is good for media which sells itself on advertising revenues?

Major Garrett, by leaving Faux and joining National Journal, has proven thru action that a reporter can return to ethical journalism. I never understood why Garrett was at that 'a suckah is born every minute' cable circus channel in the first place.

The main reason for his departure, the Fox White House correspondent said, is the frenetic pace of cable news: "I want to talk less and I want to think more. I always considered myself an accidental TV reporter."

When he told Roger Ailes he was leaving, Garrett said, the Fox News chairman replied: "You're one of the few guys who never got addicted to TV."

Thank you Garret for showing us political koolaid drinking by some liberals who would rather lie, is alive and well.

Why are all the "suckas" always your boss at work?

Funny how the most successful, brightest, most accomplished people overwhelmingly watch Fox News.
