TUESDAY, July 11 (HealthDay News) -- Volunteers who tried the hallucinogenic ingredient in psychedelic mushrooms during a controlled study funded by the U.S. government had "mystical" experiences, and many of them still felt unusually happy months later.

The aims of the Johns Hopkins researchers were simple: to explore the neurological mechanisms and effects of the compound, as well as its potential as a therapeutic agent.

Although psilocybin -- the hallucinogenic agent in the Psilocybe family of mushrooms -- first gained notoriety more than 40 years ago, it has rarely been studied because of the controversy surrounding its use.

This latest finding, which sprang from a rigorously designed trial, moves the hallucinogen's effect closer to the hazy border separating hard science and religious mysticism.

"We simply don't know what causes a 'bad trip,' " he added, "and we can't forecast who'll have a difficult time and who won't."

I wonder if they need more volunteers?

A student cut off his own penis and his tongue after drinking an infusion of the latest drugs craze to sweep Germany.

The 18-year-old, only named as Andreas W, from Halle in Germany drank a tea made with the hallucinogenic angels' trumpet plants.

mamosa tree. they grow wild in kansas.

take root. scrape off bark. boil down to sugar. repeat.repeat

eat. return to earth 16 hours later.

hallucination is something you have to be extremely vareful with. LSD, which is weaker and harder to make than mamosa, is 12 hours long. When people take it, and 3 hours in they have somewhwere to they need to be, and they want it to go away, bad, bad stuff can happen...

I'll try to find some of the Life Articles with stuff like "Can LSD solve stress problems?" That was when Timothy Leary was champoigning it, and would take you to his estate, where people would guide you through you first trip.

He was the Johnny Appleseed of Acid.

Never done the mushroom thing and not sure I have the balls to try it now.

Back in the LSD day, I remember one time at ASU (after a toilet paper fight), there was paper in the trees.

I went to take a "nature" break. My friends found me later still with my boy in my hand in shock.

The trees were wiping the arse of humanity.

It was a deep and emotional moment err... 4-5 hours. :rofl

I forget what it's called, but there's a nice smoke shop on the left of 75 before you hit CCCC that sells them spores in syringes. When we FINALLY get some rain, just go out right before to a field 15 North, and place them on some manure. Come back the day after it rains, pick, then let them dry.
Eat/Experience.

Just an idea, though I'm not a very psychadelic person myself.
