It's heartbreaking that money, and not ideas is winning this election.
good, that means the best candidate is in the lead.
I tend to think that the weeks leading up to the election and the debates are going to be the biggest factor. Considering that both sides will have hundreds of millions of dollars, I think that a small lead will pretty much insignificant.
I'm not making any calls until the debates, though I will make the prediction that that is where Obama will really outshine Romney.

Pity that it's a choice between bad and worse...
Agreed, Romney needs to run on Obama's record. Keep quoting him. All the failed promises, all the slip showing.
I'll have to say this, the OP, is a bit of a surprise. Just a couple weeks ago the meme being put out by the Obama camp was that Romney was the evil money guy with tons of lucre flowing in and they needed financial help otherwise money would win the election. Seems they were lying again.

No, just a bunch of pots calling the kettle black.
Romney is an evil money guy, so donate to my campaign so that I can be an evil money guy, too.
The problem is that, without money to spread half truths and outright lies about the other guy, you just don't win elections. That is what is disgusting about this campaign, even more than the content of those absurd lying stupid outrageous ads that they keep playing over and over.
I'm making the call that Barack Obama does his absolute worst when he's not speaking from a teleprompter. There are untold numbers of examples to back up my assertion. When he's off the cuff, he's a stumbling, bumbling idiot.
Yea, that's just some stereotype that has been perpetrated by right wing talk radio. Everyone was talking about how he was going to fail miserably against McCain in the debates cause he's an empty suit etc... and it wasn't even close. Obama did a great job. I'm thinking that this will be very similar to that. Does Obama have a fantastic record to run on? No, but he does have some high points that he can emphasize and if he keeps bringing those up he'll do fine. I saw most of the Republican debates, Romney has his work cut out for him. Especially if he refuses to answer any questions leading up to the debate. Obama has not delivered on all of his promises, that goes without saying, but if you bring up one of them, say closing Guantanamo, all he has to say is that he can't do it by himself and hasn't had enough support in congress, or something to that effect. It's much easier to explain that than for Romney to explain why he's scared to release tax records (especially with his dad's stance on the issue), his refusal to answer so many questions and take a stand on so many issues, Romney can't bring up healthcare in any meaningful way. Sure he can attack Obama all day long, and right fully so, Obama needs to be criticized where he hasn't done a great job, but that only goes so far. If Romney can't explain anything that he supports that while connect with independents, I don't see how he comes out of the debates with a snowballs chance.
It is way to early to say one way or another. Publishing this kind of crap and polls is just a way to try to get people to follow the herd instead of think for themselves and to discourage people from voting because "their" vote don't really count and who they would chose is losing anyways. Publishing it this early also is an attempt to reduce donations for whomever the publisher is against. Until late october, polls aren't going to mean crap, even then, if the poll takes place in cities or liberal states then it will look like BO is on top and if it is done in the country or a more conservative state, it will look like Romney is on top. How you want it to look determines how you poll.
In the area of Texas I live, we get TV out of Shreveport La. as well as from in Texas and I also spend a bit of time in Oklahoma, both Candidates know which way these areas are going and don't even bother advertising on TV. Haven't seen a single ad from either on local broadcast TV. Hadn't had any calls from polling agencies either.
I agree with much of that, but there are a couple points I take exception with. First, no one thought McCain would be better at the debates with Obama. Heck, he'd already trounched Hillary. We all knew he was an excellent speaker. McCain, he had to take regular naps during his campaign and is about as sharp as a wet noodle in debates.
Secondly, Romney has an easy answer available to him on the tax records attack - if he's willing to use it. Just say, okay, you got it, we can go together on this one. YOU release all your college transcripts, papers and writings and I will release my last twenty years of returns. Obama will not know how to respond other than to lie.

Money backing good ideas, I can live with that.
But as was pointed out, super pacs are flooding the markets with Obama-hating ads and misinformation.
good, that means the best candidate is in the lead.
