As expected, the soon to be former Congressional Rep from Wyoming will not go quietly, and will not cease her efforts to prevent Traitor Trump from going anywhere near the Oval Office.

“Rep. LIZ CHENEY (R-Wyo.) is wasting no time beginning the next phase of her bid to prevent DONALD TRUMP’s return to office.

“In coming weeks, Liz will be launching an organization to educate the American people about the ongoing threat to our Republic, and to mobilize a unified effort to oppose any Donald Trump campaign for president,” Cheney spokesperson JEREMY ADLER tells Playbook exclusively.

The new group, which will serve as Cheney’s primary political vehicle as she considers whether to run for president in 2024, does not have an official name yet. An informed guess: The Great Task, which was the name of Cheney’s final ad of the campaign. The phrase is from the last sentence of the Gettysburg Address, and Cheney also referenced it in her concession speech from Jackson, Wyo., last night.

But the other way to look at it is that Cheney calculated that a national platform and massive fundraising base built around her fearless and uncompromising opposition to Trump is far more politically valuable than serving in McCarthy’s House majority. It is a more modern way of understanding political power in which attention is the coin of the realm.

The market for a compelling foil to Trump is enormous. With Republicans cowed into silence by him, and Democrats guided by strategists who are ambivalent about nationalizing the midterms around him, Cheney has the Trump-hating — and Trump-addicted — slice of the attention economy all to herself. She clearly intends to use it. CNN’s Jeff Zeleny, doing hardship duty from Jackson, notes that JAMES GOLDSTON, the former TV news executive who produced the Jan. 6 hearings, was at Cheney’s campaign event in Jackson with a film crew.

So rather than a kamikaze mission, her primary loss may have been more like parachuting out of a plane that had outlived its usefulness. Her great task now is figuring out where to land.”

Cheney already has $14M in contributions to start, and there is no objective reason to believe many, many more donations will not soon be added to the pot, and very much unlike Traitor Trump, Liz Cheney won’t use the donated money as a personal slush fund.

Traitor Trump, and any of his brain dead Trumpster base that figured Cheney being “primaried” out of Congress would shut her up or deter her from continuing her mission are in for a very unpleasant surprise.

She doesn't move the needle much outside of the Jan. 6 hearings and her lackluster national approval rating shows it.

She could form a 3rd party to siphon off votes from the GOP in the general election but that would be a serious crash and burn to her political career.

I admire Liz for sticking to her guns but I don't see much of a future for her unless she can successfully carpet bag her way into another state's politics much like Hillary did.

There's not even a mayorship in Wyoming for her. She was born in the wrong state to be a moderate.

You think that's funny. But it wasn't even funny the first time. Get new material.

She's not a moderate.

Liz Cheney Voted With Trump 93 Percent of Her Congressional Career

She just values her integrity more than her House seat. I fail to see the wrong in this.

We already have a Lincoln Project.

I think she is trying to rehabilitate the GOP. Not possible, a waste of her time and efforts

Her next move to go back to work for the people of WY. The Hearings resume next month, so Trumpers will have to suck on a lemon until Dec. She is not going quietly, but no claims of voter fraud, very refreshing. Most Republicans who lost there primaries thus far had some serious election loss butt hurt, taking a page from The Big Lie.

I don't know what she will do except I know it won't be to go silently into the night! There is a growing group of prominent, long-time Republicans who see Trump for what he is and want very much to return the party to its former self. I suspect that somehow she will unite them in a movement of some sort. Whether that is forming their own party or forcing Trumpers to form theirs, I don't know.

I think the mid-terms will be the pivot point. If the GOP loses important seats at the State level, Governors and Senators, then I think there will be a huge movement to "Dump Trump" and I think a group led by Cheney and others could be very effective in impacting the 2024 primaries and I don't mean by necessarily running in them. If Trumpers wins in the midterms then I think she will move forward as an Independent or perhaps as a new Conservative Party.

Liz Cheney needs to focus on Trump specifically. Getting rid of Trump is an easy task compared bringing the republican party back to life. Charles Koch and his march to Fascism will not grant Liz Cheney the power to
take the GOP away from Charles Koch and his baby ALEC. No way Jose'.

Liz Cheney will remain always a remain a right wing Cheney in her politics. We don't need more Fake Republican Politics.

(((((YAWN))))) in Trump world = Very Worried. It's all about up is down with Trumpers. Black is White and so on. In other words, don't believe a word they say.

Her next move is probably: multimillion dollars book deal.

Joe Biden should create a cabinet level post like "Election Security Tzar" or something similar and let her get about exacting her revenge.

Don’t know if many here have watched Cheney’s concession speech. She was gracious and respectful of her opponent, thanked the citizens of Wyoming for their support, and completely unapologetic to those that have wrongly attacked her for living up to her oath of office, and pledged to continue working to ensure that Traitor Trump never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office.

I think she is trying to rehabilitate the GOP. Not possible, a waste of her time and efforts
Cheney’s been very clear about her specific mission.

And she knows the GOP won’t be rehabilitated by one person, or overnight,

“Look, I think the Republican Party today is in very bad shape, and I think we have a tremendous amount of work to do. I think it could take several election cycles. But the country has got to have a Republican Party that's actually based on substance, based on principles”

now we have The Great Task

should siphon off enough true republican votes to assure tRump cannot win in 2024

wtg Liz !
Wrong.

The only votes she will "siphon off" are from people who wouldn't have voted for Trump in any event.

The "true Republicans" will still vote for Trump.
