The Muslim Feast (fast) of Ramadan began about a week ago. The Jewish holiday of Passover begins tonight. Today is the Christian holy day of Good Friday that precedes Easter. I knew that Ramadan, Passover, and Easter converged this year but the violence being enacted in Israel still shocks me. I have seen many evils brought about by religion, but I have never hated all religions. Seeing this violence deeply saddens me. I deeply believe in our country's policy of allowing freedom for everyone to worship in any religion or no religion. Seeing people suffer for their beliefs, especially people who believe they are doing God's work, is terribly disheartening, and it has been ever thus.
