This sure makes the polls that say we should cut and run in Iraq look bad:

Lieberman has double digit lead over Lamont in Connecticut senate race
WASHINGTON (CNN)--Sen. Joseph Lieberman holds a 17-point lead over Democratic nominee Ned Lamont in the race for the Connecticut Senate seat. The poll was conducted by Quinnipiac University on October 17 through October 19, 2006.

Lieberman (I) 52%Lamont (D) 35%Schlesinger (R)6%

I find it astounding that none of you liberal Leiberman bashers have commented on this post.........Don't you find it puzzling that a Liberal blue state like Conn. would elect Leiberman who is pro Iraq war over a cut and run candidate like Lamont?:rofl

Lieberman will probably win CT, but I think it was a big win by liberals to kick him out of the Democratic party. His support is mostly from Republicans and Independents. C'est la vie.

Not really. Even crazy people do not often literally cut their own throats.
Self preservation eventually takes hold somewhere along the line.

First....there would need to be a bunch of "Liberal Leiberman Bashers" on this site to make the comments....which there arent, as far as I can tell.
Second....Those "Liberal Leiberman Bashers", would need to actually decide this is worthy of debate.
Third....They would realize who started the thread, and need to weigh the likelyhood of viable discussion vs. getting flamed by Navy Pride.

Personally....I hope Leiberman wins, hes a needed voice in todays political climate. This country needs more Moderation if we hope to actually work together again, and he is at least trying.

Hint: the terms Pro-War, Cut and Run, Liberal, Neo-Con, etc......do not promote Moderate Communication.

Why would this be a surprize?

Republicans abandoned their Republican candidate and are actively campaigning for Lieberman.

This makes the democrats look like idiots for dumping a perfectly good senator just because he doesn't sound like Michael Moore. Apparently the democrats who voted in the primaries don't represent all the people of Connecticut.

Oh well, one less democrat seat in the Senate... :2wave:

Really I did not know Republicans were a factor in this very blue state.......

I mean Leiberman is not just squeaking by here he is kicking some serious butt........

Fewer people vote in primaries than general elections and they tend to be more, well, devout. So, it's not a big surprise. The only error was in imparting more "meaning" to Lamont's win than it deserved.

There have been people in this forum who have bashed Leibeman considerably for not dropping out after Lamont beat him in the primary and you know it.

Second I am glad there is a Democrat who takes the war on terror seriously...

They are few and far between........

So what? Leiberman has a 46 point lead over Schlesinger (R) and that's all that really matters.

I understand what you're saying. My point is that Lieberman left the Democratic party after losing the primary.

In order to run he was forced to leave as he could not be the D rep. Correct?

Leiberman supports President Bush in the war on terror and in Iraq.........That is the most important issue and the only one that really counts...

If we lose it then none of the other political issues will matter........

I just hope he sticks it to the dems for throwing him over the side........

You can deny him all you want now, but you will be on your knees begging him to be a Democrat if the Senate comes up 50/50.

Personally, I love the fact that people are so furiously denying him. It increases the tension that the party will feel come this January.

I just hope Leiberman tells the dems to pack sand for the outrageous way they treated him.....

It just goes to show you there is no room for another opinion in the democratic party.......

Yeah, like the way Trent Lott was able to tell the Republicans to pound sand after the outrageous way they treated him. Or how about McCain and the way the Repubs treated him during the primarys? Man that was mean, real mean. The Republicans are reknown for turning on their own. They wrote the handbook. Heck, they'd even eat their own young if would help keep them in power.

Oh that's rich, coming from the talking point rubber stamp crowd. If you people ever had an orginal thought, your heads would implode. Now that I'd like to see. lol.

And the Republican party is a garden of different thoughts, o no, that’s rights. The Republican party is controlled by Neo cons, who repress traditional conservatives who outnumber them and use the evangelical Christians to get into power. When in the end the neo-cons would just assume get rid of the evangelicals along with the liberals. They are like the socialists were to National Socialism.

I’m glad to see Lieberman has such a lead. I would rather have a man who I disagree with who has balls in office, than a dickless guy who I just happen to agree with. The Democrats were wrong to attack Lieberman like they did. The people should be electing who they want, not the puppets the Democrats and Republicans allow them to vote for. And to that end, if someone wants to run, they shouldn’t let the Democrats, Republicans, or God tell them not to.

You mean those far right neocons like Rudy G. and Arnold S.........tell me what planet you are from?
