I'm going to take a wild stab here and guess that if a former partisan operative from the Republican side, like Tim Russert is for the Democrats, testified in the perjury trial of, say, Bill Clinton, the media would not shut up about his vested interest in the outcome of the trial (Russert worked as an operative for such far left Democrats as Pat Moynihan and Mario Cuomo).
Oh wait, we don't have to guess.
One of the only journalists who DIDN'T work for some Democrat in office before being trusted to disseminate legitimate news is Diane Sawyer. She worked under Nixon.
Lexis Nexis has more than 1,000 media articles mentioning Diane Sawyer's connection to the Nixon White House. Guess how often Russert's past (or any of these people listed below) get's mentioned? Zip. It's an amazing difference.

Another one named Molinari, who worked for the GOP before coming to CBS to cover cooking and crafts, had over 100 articles written by the New York Times and other "mainstream" outlets with hedalines like "GOP News at CBS." And NPR's, Nina Totenburg said, "It makes me want to puke."
We also don't have to guess how the media would act about those who would accuse liberals of perjury, just look at the outrageously hostile coverage they gave of Monica Lewinsky, Ken Starr, etc. They treated it as a foregone conclusion that these people were partisan witch hunters persecuting their beloved career-felon, Bill Clinton.
We also don't have to guess how the media feels about leaks when they are done by liberals. When a liberal leaked a story about CIA prisons in Europe, the media gave them an award. When a liberal needlessly exposes the inner-workings of a classified anti-terror program or call terrorists to let them know the FBI is coming, as the New York Times did, the media calls them, "brave." When a liberal Carter judge accidentally leaked that Clinton's indictment was in the works, CBS called it a "well-orchestrated,"
"Republican-backed" leak.
