"Liberal Logic"

My mistake I didn't read your profile.
Why the hell are you arguing about US social issues then? Worry about your own damn country, you don't vote or live here so who cares what you want us to do!

If you want this to be an exclusive forum (damn those pesky aliens), better talk to Vauge.

Would you still respond this way if she [NaughtyNurses] was from Iraq?

Socialised medicine, along with education, is the least that you should expect of a civilised society.

youre right, its THE LEAST expected. when your socialist medicine can reach the caliber of ours in the US, then your argument might hold some ground.

Well, the idea of socialized medicine is great. This is the problem, what ends up happening is that the state part sucks and the private system rules. But, I think for one, that is better than no health care at all. Wouldn't you say? Hey, Hillary Clinton is right for once (I never thought I would say it).

We are good at carving people up aren't we?

Great sense of humour you've got there!

Great point, but I am a he.

It's "calibre" in English darling.

Get yourself to some medical conferences. Countries with socialised medicine often lead the way in research and innovation, not being constrained by the need to make a profit out of people's suffering.
France consistantly tops international league tables for its public health service's performance and health outcomes. Your system cons you into paying more for your healthcare than any other nation, for outcomes which are not the best. United Statesian medicine is of a middling calibre. And your uneven access to it is a scandal in a nation which claims to be civilised.

Haha, it certainly wouldn't be the first time and it won't be the last. Although, in my defense, one of my favorite video games is definitely Soul Calibur II ( http://www.soulcalibur2.com/ ) So I'm not totally crazy. And in Fireman Ryan's defense caliber is the correct spelling of that word.

CALIBER

Function: noun
Etymology: Middle French calibre, from Old Italian calibro, from Arabic qAlib shoemaker's last
1 a : degree of mental capacity or moral quality b : degree of excellence or importance

Alas, poor Sebastian. You should check a proper dictionary, such as The Oxford Dictionary!

Well, we are American's after all. Basterdizing your words is what we do best! Personally as an English major I use the OED as much as possible. Some really interesting stuff in that one.

Perhaps there is hope for you, after all!

Did anyone else realize that the title of this thread is an oxymoron?

Somewhat like you describing your location as "Beautiful USA"

Yes. Curse those damn French with their universal healthcare and superior education. In America-land I can shoots off me gun. It go bang.

The French are bad. They smell. Fox News told me. Foxes are good for shootin's.

Have you ever been to the European Union? Please, live there for a month and tell me what you think.

America is considered beautiful because ignorance is bliss.

Way to go, Lenin- couldn't have been said better.

And Paris - centre of the universe, IMHO.

whats funny is that i did live in Bordeaux, France for 4 months when i was 20. the people were nice, beautiful country but their education system was nothing to talk about and their universal health care was **** poor. i found this out after needing some stiches and trying to get any kind of professional attention in a Paris hospital. i called the family i was staying at to let them know how frustrated i was and the man said "spoiled american haha, welcome to the world of socialized medicine."

so yes, i have been to the EU numerous times, even lived there for 4 months. and coming from a completely unbiased standpoint, all it did was make me appreciate America even more. i love Europe, im not trying to downplay their countries or disrespect anyone, i just feel that in many ways the old cliches are true and we do have it better in America.

well its CALIBER in American haha.

do you have any valid sources to show me that socialized health care is more innovative than privatized? usually the supporters of universal systems will even admit this, its a hard truth to run away from. and if France has such a great health care system, why does it seem like everytime i look at the BBC's website, there are more French citizens complaining and protesting over it and why are they talking about a complete overhaul of the system?

im not being conned into anything, the city pays for my healthcare and even on an HMO i recieve great treatment. when i pay for it privately its like a ******* butler service. back in college a couple years ago i was broke and uninsured and i could still walk into an ER and recieve the treatment i needed at a price i could afford. and please, 'if you can read real english'. im sorry we dont spell color with a u, its really tough to read it without it but i think we americans can manage.

I don't think socialized health care is more innovative. This is what I want...private health care for everyone who can't afford it-aka those who make under 25,000 a year.

And trust me, out of the EU, Ireland is the place to be. They have a great health care system, basically free education up through college, great high-tech and "thinking" industries and a great economy overall. And better yet, the people there are happy.

Go figure, eh bloke?

Is this guy a genius or what?

So the widespread dissemination of weapons of death in a society will make that society healthier. You think that's logical?

Let me get back to you on that. & stop confusing me with all this chatter about forks & spoons.

That's right-wing "logic"--more of a thought disorder, really. Most people intuitively perceive the inanity of the pro-gun position. That's why two-thirds of Americans want more gun control.

So let me get this right - this thread went from dissing liberals to fighting over who lives in the better country? Pardon my saying so, but a lot of you sound really immature.

As for this so called "oxymoron," it sounds to me like you conservatives have really run out of defenses, so you must resort to name-calling, insults, and refusing to understand a perspective other than your own. For those of you who actually used real arguments to back yourself up, thank you.

Liberal logic works pretty good.

Considering,

Real white of you!
